I think that’s very likely. Xehanort also wasn’t a good role model.

If it weren’t for Aqua, Terra would likely need to be kept on a very short leash.

Add onto that the fact that he's only learned one doctrine his whole life: Darkness bad, Light good.

It's like how the Jedi raise their Padawans.

It cripples them emotionally, because then they don't know how to process negative emotions.

What do y’all think of the Terra-Anakin Skywalker comparisons

I think it's very apt.

It makes a lot of sense, and it wouldn't surprise me if the man himself drew inspiration from that very arc.

Aside from what he learned from Xehanort which essentially equates to “HULK SMASH!!!”

Basically.

Xehanort told him, "Darkness okay," but then neglected to tell him how to properly use it.

Would that make Riku Luke?

Possibly?

There's less of a parallel there.

Not exactly because Riku learns to accept his darkness and use it while Luke pretty much submits to the Jedi doctrine of ‘light good dark bad’

Xehanort is Palpatine

Which is ironic because he later explained it much better to Riku:

“Darkness cannot be destroyed; it can only be channeled.”

Which means you should redirect your negative thoughts instead of trying to repress or eliminate them.

I think Xehanort skipped the details with Terra because he just wanted darkness in Terra’s heart so he could later take his body.

That's about the long and short of it.

He just wanted a body that was both strong and tainted with darkness.

It’s kind of neat that KH promotes mental health when you really start to analyze it

KH has a lot of lessons buried beneath what outsiders see as total absurdity

There is a degree of absurdity to it all, yes, but also a lot of depth.

When KH is deep, it's actually meaningful.

Like, yeah, it's most definitely silly and campy and more cheesy than a batch of Limburger, but its more serious and deep moments really hit hard because of that.

I feel like you need those moments, else it becomes full of itself and preachy

I think that’s why Deltarune works as well as it does. It’s a heart breaking drama filled narrative cleverly disguised as a shitpost.

More media needs to be balanced like that.

Kingdom Hearts balances existentialism, and identity, while having Donald Duck one shot a dude with 7th Tier magic- I love this franchise

Look you don’t firetruck with Donald. He’s nearly destroyed entire neighborhoods just because he was pissed at a couple of chipmunks.

And his uncle is richer than a god
