I'm of the opinion that Terra isn't necessarily stupid.

He's just way too trusting.

Especially because Xehanort knew which buttons to push to get his guard down.

That sort of comes with intelligence tho. A smart person doesn’t trust a con artist.

Ah, but there was nothing that seemed to be that way to Terra at the time.

After all, this was a Keyblade Master.

What reason did Terra have to not trust him?

As far as he knew, Xehanort and Eraqus were friends.

I mean yeah. And his personal master at that. I just think at some point Terra should have thought twice about the advice he was given; not so much Xehanort himself.

I think he's more impulsive than anything.

Hell, that's why his Command Style is Dark Impulse.

Impulsive doesn't necessarily equal stupid in my book.

That he very much is; considering he flung himself at his former master in a fit of rage. So maybe…emotionally unintelligent is more accurate.

He hasn't known much more than his master and fellow pupil for pretty much his whole life.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was emotionally stunted/underdeveloped because of that.

I think that’s very likely. Xehanort also wasn’t a good role model.

If it weren’t for Aqua, Terra would likely need to be kept on a very short leash.

Add onto that the fact that he's only learned one doctrine his whole life: Darkness bad, Light good.

It's like how the Jedi raise their Padawans.

It cripples them emotionally, because then they don't know how to process negative emotions.

I think it's very apt.

It makes a lot of sense, and it wouldn't surprise me if the man himself drew inspiration from that very arc.
