DISNEY IS THE MAIN REASON SORA HAD TROUBLE GETTING INTO SMASH

Also the narrative theming has Disney all over its dna. It would be very awkward without.

My understanding is Disney was down for it, but Square were being the hard-to-work with ones; in fact apparently the reason Donald and Goofy don't appear in the KH stages is cause Nintendo didn't wanna shell out the cash for the rights for them- understandable tbh

Dunno why SE was even an issue in it since Disney own Sora, they can deal with Nintendo themselves to get Sora in Smash.

Unless they wanted SE to facilitate the deal or something

So even though Disney owns Sora, Square has like, an equal say in where their character show up- if Square wants Sora to be in something, Disney can still say no, and vice versa

Disney gets around this by whenever they put out their own KH merchandise, they just have "Disney" on it, not Disney key Square.

Square is stingy with Kingdom Hearts rep because--- well, no one I've ever talked to has been able to give me a straight answer lmao

A cast member at Disneyland once told me, "Disney is run by picky old white guys, but Square is run by picky old Japanese guys- way worse."
