also vanitas lore in bbs novel doesn't seem to match with his remind and DR lore

also vanitas lore in 3 novel has him recall memories of the kb gy but he doesn't from who they are from even though he should really given dr AND REMIND implies he knows damn well what he is

The BBS novel makes me laugh because one of the interaction betwen Eraqus and Terra that I can simplify as such:

"WHy don't you like sweets?"

"I don't know dad 😭 "

"The darkness has taken you and I have failed as a parent."

haha

He also, as Venitas, gets shit mixed up between what Xehanort has told him and fragmented memories from UX. And, withing the same breath in 3, he says he's a part of Ventus and a piece of Sora is in him through his appearance and then the firetruckery of that one scene in DDD.

Which, one can argue is Ventus seeing Vanitas from Sora's perspective, but this also begs the question as to why Sora reacts to Vanitas being there is only Ventus could see him.

Especially with what YMX says, which could also be him talking out of his ass bc he's a shit.

There's also the little scene in DR where Xehanort does threaten Vanitas while they're in the LoD and he visibly becomes uncomfortable and/or quieter, which make me think pieces of the novel are more canon that originally intended, but that's mostly a me thing.

I would also argue that the years Vanitas spent with Xehanort do line up with the timeline since he does describe what he feels when he's first spereated from Ventus and then gradually grows more and more bitter while training with Xehanort. Xehanort's training could also be a combination of him genuinely cultivating Vanitas's darkness to fight the pure light within Ventus, but also a way of "conquering" the darkness and controlling it in a way Baldr never could in DR as a type of spiteful, "firetruck you" to the man that killed all his friends.
