the way I see it, aprentice xehanort was subconciously being driven by master xehanort throught his time with amnesia

Xemnas even recalled having the name Xehanort and mentioned that it had been a long time since he had abandoned the name

and master xehanort used the guise of ansem to manipulate his amnesiatic body

Xemnas implies he and ansem the wise worked together for years but it was really only like a year

maybe 2

It was a few years though. I mean the Organization formed at least 5 years before KH1 happened.

but the fall of hollow bastion happened about a decade before kh1

If I remember correctly Nomura stated in an interview that the scene in KH2 Final Mix where Xemnas talks to Aqua's armor happens before KH1.

Or was it in between? I'm pretty sure it was before though.

he would go in and talk to the armor (which btw we got no closure to him having a connection to terra what so ever)

aqua never once shared a moment with xemnas thanks to terranort basically stealing his thing

he was having clashes in personality long before terranort was even a thing

in alot of ways xemnas was broken down to literally the bare essentials to keep him in the series

they got rid of the idea he was a tortured villain, then ignored the idea he had a replapses into terras character

in alot of ways xemnas as a villain got progressivley worse as kh went on

the events of xemans and letting go of the name happene to Xehanort but i dont think it was the old nort he is the same being but didnt have those experiences of memories

I still think nomura couldve done a better job with xemnas in terms of keeping his character in tact

Its less the character got worse personality wise and more his actions stopped being cohesive

At least an attempt was made in kh3 to fix him but ddd did so much damage
