no wonder I don’t Iike either of them much ❕ I’II give 16 this though, at Ieast it commits to being a hack and sIash Remake tries to pIease both but they both have one issue I can’t stand they expect you to use aII your big boi mega abiIities [i]onIy[/i] when the enemy is staggered, otherwise the cost is too high (cooIdown) and the payoff not worth it (mediocre damage)

16 does not commit to being a hack and slash...

It stops commiting 5 hours in when you learn all the skills

i think small opportunity windows you can trigger like in Souls game for example are interesting

So depending how many hits and what kind of attacks you do you can do combos til they get away again

They've been obsessed with this damn mechanic since FF13 man I don't get why they love it so much genuinely

I wouId [i]reaIIy[/i] rather the ATB be AP or something an actuaI resource to manage, but for that to work, stagger wouId have to be out so that your base combos do [i]any[/i] damage for 7R’s combat system, there’s no better method than atb….

I’d rather just crisis core reunion’s combat atp

your competition is classic FF, FFXII, FFXIII, FFXV, FFXVI Classic FF turn-based is straight out bad even for its time FFX looks also bad in comparison when you realize that SMT and Persona was on the same console FFXII is autoplay combat FFXIII takes too long to get good

I am fine with the stagger system if you get options to actually make staggering happen. 16 wasn't the easiest to do it with. 7R gives you plenty of ways to do it with thanks to the amount of characters you have and you can really make it work so well. Even the whole "you can only use your best attacks when staggered and not enough time" doesn't work with 7R because you actually get more ATB so much faster when enemies are staggered.
