Well your first mistake was seeing a psychiatrist and not a therapist or psychologist

My doctor asked me the same thing, but i said no to medications and she still assigned me one

I was told I could see a Psychiatrist and I didn't have to take medications to talk to them

There’s still resources. I used the Sanvello app to do self therapy. Surprisingly effective.

That's one of the things that worries me about seeing a professional, I don't want to have to crutch on a medication to feel good ya know

I completely understand and respect that, for me personally, I would rather use something more natural like cannabis instead of like pills for medication, but that's a me thing.
