that's practicaIIy the same thing

It’s a mobile game first, PS and PC game second. Gotta cater to the lowest denominator

yeahhhh

it's kinda bizzare the sheer number of mobiIe pIayers

bizzare because
how the heII you pIayin on there

If they did that, you wouldn’t need a separate phone in order to play the damn game.

The amount of storage needed to play Genshin on mobile is RIDICULOUS.

mobile gaming is a bigger market than Console and PC gaming

l mean

EVERYONE has a phone

but not everyone has a consoIe or pc

there are peopIe in the ruraI areas here that stiII pIay pubg

It’s why traditional publishers keep trying to hamfist their IPs on mobile devices to varying degrees of success. You can make soooooo much more money for soooooo much less investment

mmhmm

no one expects quaIity game design on phone so
you can compIeteIy get away with it

That I can understand. That makes sense.

The game still destroys my storage, but that makes sense.

I’m terrified of how they’re going to handle Natlan.

Not to mention the near-complete lack of regulation and player expectations

You can get away with any and every scummy practice with a mobile game

There’s also issue I have with Genshin where they have more 5* than 4*.

I personally don't play mobile games.

I used to, but it just devolved into microtransactions and repetition.

I used to, but it turned into an addiction. In the games I played, if you wanted to sit at the adults table you had to be willing to drop tens of thousands of dollars on the game. I never went that far, but once these mobile games have their hook in you the temptation is always there.

I never experienced that, because my brain has always been, “Why spend money in game, when you can money out of game”.

Like merch.

Or other video games.

As I said, it was an addiction. You start off just buying some starter packs they feed you when you start playing
just $5 here, just $10 there
Then as you progress, likely throw in with a clan/group, you’ve got people enabling you, knowingly or unknowingly, to keep spending. Gotta catch up to everyone else after all. Eventually, that’s not enough. You want to elevate your position. You see those leaderboards and how powerful the people up top are. Maybe you join up with a new group, this one more serious about the game. Now you’ve got to keep pace with them. By this point you’ve spent well over $100, so what’s a bit more? The cycle repeats until you’re broke or something pulls you out of the cycle.

I was an ignorant teenager with no responsibilities, an easy target.

And that is why I refuse to be hyped for anything beyond the story content of Missing Link, because I’ve already been through this cycle multiple times.

.....
you've been through a Iot huh

no.. we've been through a Iot

it was just Iike this for KHUx
where l was wishing so bad that l had some way to buy more jeweIs to get what l wanted

it reaIIy was just Iuck that l didn't have any back then
and by the time l got the abiIity to do onIine transactions, l despised spending money on these systems

KHUX was undoubtedly built to reinforce what I described above. How I saw that and managed to get out before I was trapped just to fall into others games where I did the exact same thing is beyond me.

mmhmm.

it's a vicious cycIe

l know l can controI myseIf now
but l stiII can't recommend games Iike genshin because of this

(by controI myseIf l mean not spend any money on the gacha)

I only have two games on my phone. One I purchased up front so it has no microtransactions, and Balloon Tower Defense where I commited to only purchasing a one-time upgrade. I’ve been more vigilant with console games, but every now and then one makes a sucker out of me.

Funny how publishers can weaponize “support the developers” to make people cave to microtransactions.

Me who has db legends (pretty simple) and...
