Like the Bloodborne thing was cool and all but, its not for me.

dragon quest 11 had a pixel mode that came out the same day I believe so they could release both

because they wanted the money from the "modern DQ is no real DQ because it has no pixel artstyle" crowd

holy shit this pixel mode looks great

maybe they feel that dq is more niche and they had to appeal to that base, but they see ff as having broad appeal and didn't feel the same kind of pressure. that's my best guess based on what you've presented (since i don't play dq and can't play ff16)
