it wasn’t an awfuI scheduIe, and there isn’t any significant cut-content but
the first reIease of the game had Iike, 5 of it’s tracks compIeteIy mispIaced due to a bug

sorry, the tracks weren’t bugged, they were just assigned incorrectIy,
instead of using the tracks associated with their IeveI IDs…. these 5* used the track from the first HUB area

sadIy one of these IeveIs where the music was mispIaced accidentaIIy was the finaI boss 💀

I know this sounds weird and crazy but Octopath Traveler 2 is the very first JRPG I play that doesn't feel like a JRPG... if that makes somehow sense

game is missing so many jrpg tropes in its writing

which is actually good lmao

it feels a lot like the old jrpgs which didn't have these "anime" tropes and it obviously makes sense for this game because it actually tries to replicate the old style

there's only one character that has friendship as his theme. It's firetrucking crazy

and even in his story it's not that big

my favorite party members so far are the cleric, thief, apothecary and scholar.

The scholar has a revenge story which is firetrucking amazing because scholars are usually boring as firetruck
the cleric is queerbait
thief has some really firetrucked up shit in the story which includes her participating in a drinking game where parts of the drinks are filled with poison
And the apothecary had a story arc where she participates in a war and helps the people on both sides who got hurt which makes both sides realize that war is bad

the themes of their story are only superficial and don't really have that much depth but it's still enjoyable

I still hope that the game has the trope that I will kill god at the end

Even as someone who recognizes how diverse of a genre JRPG is…yeah the tropes are almost always about as subtle as a firetrucking bulldozer.

Another classic is “Oh no! I’m going to lose! But wait! My friends are saving me somehow!”

Octopath Traveler 2 be like:
Hey you killed this boss with an enrage timer, multiple punishing and insane mechanics oh and the boss has also a requirement that you have to do it solo.

Here you firetrucker take 12000 Gil and an elixier

Still gives you more than FF16 does

Then again, that game didn't have anything nearly as difficult as what that sounds like

rewards and gearing are as awful in this game

but then that goes for most jrpgs

p5 reward system is as awful

they need to find ways to make gearing more interesting. stat stick gear is so outdated

all the interesting skills are part of the job system and even that is very limiting because you can only equip 4 abilities on each character

some of the skills are literally "increases attack by 50" or "increases critical hit rate by 50"

then there's other skills that are actually interesting but the game doesn't nearly have enough of these

you have to waste an ability slot just to break the damage cap of 9999

it's so firetrucking dumb

I actually have a theory why they keep these games so simple

Because they are too dumb to design a proper turn-based combat system that doesn't break immediately as soon as you add more interesting rpg elements

so it's a skill issue

physical skills just scale way much better

I swear if Rebirth has these dumb skill trees again with +5 magic or physical damage I will get a meltdown. So firetrucking outdated and a waste of time

same for barrets tank spec which is also pointless due to how the aggro system works

not gonna say that Octopath is bad because of this. I love it, but it has painfully obvious flaws that have been an issue in other SE games too and at this point they should know about them 💀

FF16 gives you so much gil and only gil to the point you dont know what to do with it.

items unfortunatetly don't matter because they had the idea to give players auto refil

KH is literally the only SE game that gets all this stuff right

the boss fight in Octopath traveler 2 was 15 minutes long

I did the boss underleveled

chip damage uwu

the sad thing is with the recommended level the boss would probably die in a few seconds. It was only a fun fight because I could do all the broken shit and it felt balanced
