Replaying the game once that came out is a vastly different thing to always have there as an option honestly

its kinda weird because you can tell in the 2013 trailers for ff15 they had the ideas to do what they did in the dlc

and tbh i think they just ran out of time

they got mega rushed and pressured

more so than other rushed games i feel

the fact that ff15 is now, with all the dlc, twice the game it was before in terms of actual length

i think they have tried very hard to make up for their failure

comrades is at least a 20-25 hour long campaign

the other dlc are about 3-4 hours each

so i wonder if XVI is gonna be a more contained storyline and less ambitious

so that XV doesnt happen again

But like back to the magic stuff I mean, it’s not that there’s no incentive to use the right elements it’s just that the actual spells themselves well, they take up a slot for one, thus you get no stat boosts for having them in that slot, as well as initially it being difficult to know what is weak to what even when you have ignis’ scan thing unlocked, on top of the fact that it will normally hurt you, making it bad to use in enclosed spaces, there’s just a lotta downsides that there didn’t need to be

I think it will be more contained when you get a primal you get that element to use as magic which I hope is the case

Oh and I think I would’ve it just rather use mp as opposed to having a cooldown, or a bit of both honestly, there should’ve been more systems in place to make mp actually be a resource that you actually have to manage and what not
