he's such a doomer it's super annoying

sometimes I wonder if he even believes into their own product at all

this is not a good look at all. They are buying all these studios and then just quit?!

IF that's true of course.

Could be a way to spurring the Xbox gamers to sustaining the product.

It could also be a way to promote their "The entire gaming industry is bullying us and we are the underdogs please allow us to acquire more studios" strategy

Assuming that's true, I mean

It is a myth that Xbox is organically the underdog, ok? Because to be an underdog you have to have some sort of inhibition or handicap to your competition.

They have more money, more generated income, the more casual audience, and the (I belive) more consistently powerful hardware.

If they ARE the underdog that's only cause they kept shooting themselves in the foot since the 360 lol

their most successful games in the past 10 years have been Forza (which is very niche due to it being a racing game), Halo Infinite (dead game), Hi-Fi Rush (good game but also niche) and Starfield (high sales).

Xbox One era really firetrucked them while Sony and Nintendo had both an insane success

I don't even know if we can count Starfield as high sales

Because of gamepass, all info they give is the amount of players

It definitely sold millions, no doubt in my mind on that

But I do want to know exactly how much

let's go!

A preview for Rebirth went up and then got deleted

hype

makes me wonder if the bomb joke is also in the game

they can pay Iip-service so sure

I’m fairly certain he doesn’t. Xbox has always been a “me too!” product. It’s nothing more than a result of Microsoft looking at the success of the gaming industry and arbitrarily deciding they want a piece of the pie. And if it fails, so what? Microsoft has so many other products and services that they can afford to be indifferent towards gaming.

One of the email exchanges made him believe in the xbox a lot

Saying that they were ahead of Sony because the Series X was stronger and also boasted about how they have the better software

But this was from 2020 after Sony unveiled their console

Some stuff from that preview

Expanding on Episode Intermission’s combos, Rebirth introduces Synergy Skills, a new combat layer that emphasizes party team-ups. When holding down the block button, I can press a face button to perform a duo attack with my party members. Even more devastating Synergy moves act as two-character limit breaks that can really turn the tide of battle. A climactic boss against a hulking monster would end with Cloud and Sephiroth pulling off a dazzling Synergy attack with more sword slashes than I can count.

It seems like Rebirth’s priority is making sure players get to spend more time with its expanding cast of characters, deepening their backstories. It’ll have a lot to juggle, too. A present-day section of my demo had me traveling with Cloud, Barret, Tifa, Aerith, and Red XIII at once. All five characters appeared on screen at all times, though I could only set three up as my battle squad while the other two simply watched battles from the sidelines (I’m not entirely clear if that’s how it’ll work in the final game). That’s a major change from Remake, which featured predetermined party compositions from chapter to chapter.

It’s not a full open-world pivot. The area I explored was probably comparable to some of Final Fantasy XVI’s wide fields, but it already feels like there’s significantly more to do and see in those spaces. That should come as great news to those who took issue with Remake’s corridor-like level design. Just as the original Final Fantasy VII opens up once players leave Midgar, so too does Rebirth. That’s great news considering that iconic areas like the Golden Saucer are making a return here.

Upon entering a small town south of Junon, a local would immediately beg for my team’s help. She’d lead us to a lake where we’d find Yuffie in a boat, being hunted by Bottomswell. It’s a boss fight from the original game but naturally recontextualized to act as a new character introduction. All hope seems lost for Yuffie until Rebirth finally gives me the kind of bizarre moment I craved: A dolphin pops out of the water to lend a helping fin. It’s a hilariously left-field moment that confidently preserves a piece of the original game.

Only spoiler tagging because the previews aren't officially out

i wish they'd release the demos being played at tgs but it's much too early for a demo lol

they usually give it about a month before releasing one

I am curious if they will do a demo for this one

Remake plays very similar and is on a lot of deals now

And they are even including a bundle that's very good to get if you buy Rebirth, you get Remake along with it

But if they do it's probably happening in January, or early February

i think they might. one big thing they want to curb before release is that the gameplay may be similar but it's still expanded upon greatly. some people are worried about it being the same thing so a demo would help

That's true

I do hope it gets one because I really want to play it

it wouldn't be a ch1 demo if that's the case though probably, so that they can throw you in with a ton of new stuff

or they can do it like ff16 did

They did with Remake but didn't let it carry over

tru

i forgot if it carried over or not, it's been a while

i just remember playing it a LOT lol

Hah I did the same

I found it bizarre they didn't let it carry over when it was all the same

Except like one tiny flashback of Cloud in Nibelheim and seeing Tifa
