So consoles are basically PC now

They always could have been, but develoepers just didn't put in any options

They started with PS4Pro and One X but now it's even more

Which makes the existence of consoles even weirder

Does it?

You get a gaming machine that's very easy to set up

Just plug it in, let it update to newest software and you are good to go

PCs are more of a hassle

It's power vs convenience honestly

With consoles, everything is set for you, but the power of it can only go so high. Where as with a PC, the ceiling for power is way higher, but you have to invest alot more into it

The price of power on consoles right now are great enough

It does a better job than PCs in the same price range

But consoles also sell on a loss

But that's still good as it's cheaper for the people

Although Series S is a bit on the lower side...

Oh yeah for sure, but in 4-5 years or so, games will be pushed even further and we will be back where we started where quite a few games are most optimized for PCs instead of consoles

That's true

But the power of the new consoles is by far the closest we've gotten to matching with PCs

But it will also be easier on the developers being used to the consoles, so they can pretty much juice the whole thing properly

As an example, Last of Us 2 or Ghost of Tsushima for the PS4

I am not trying to start a story argument

I am just talking graphically here

I am sick of seeing it for these games

With those games, they were built with those consoles in mind so they were optimized for that specific console.

Yeah it gets old fast

Yeah, that's true

The graphic fidelity of those games are definitely an example of the PS4's graphical capabilities, even FF7R to an extent

FF7R issues with the low res models seems to be engine based than the console

I am wondering if they tried fixing it but couldn't

It's possible and I wonder if they will fix it with the PS5, if they do a rerelease or update for the next console

Hopefully, if not to fix those models then at least a 60fps mode

Honestly, I hope a 60fps mode is the standard going forward

Yeah, which is why i think that even if PC gaming becomes even better looking, as long as the consoles are able to use everything it has to offer by the end of it then it should be fine as it would still look great next to the new PC stuff

Yeah, the jump from last generation to this generation might not be the biggest right now but the growth of these consoles I think will be the most exponential yet.

Why it gotta be so late on a thursday
