i finished Born Again last night and I'm struggling to figure out if it holds up to the original or if it's just the returning actors carrying hard af with their chemistry. like, i enjoyed it but there were a lot of small things that feel off?

one thing i will say, is that most of S1 feels like a giant nothing burger. lots of small stuff Just Happens and the only real overarching plot thread was never really concluded and is just left for S2 or whatever. the finale just felt weak because it was all just setup for whatevers next imo

also, thank god the CG wasn't overused/was less obvious after the first episode. it's insane how bad it was in the opening scene, when that scene was SO important and set the tone for the show

I haven't watched Born Again but I do know that they had to overhaul whole show when they swapped showrunners, might be why it feels like that

Like the whole Foggy thing was gonna happen off screen, along with Karen

yeah, i heard about all that and i can definitely see where some of it comes into play

like some system shifts in directing styles

It was also originally gonna be a full 18 episode run that was split down the middle instead, so maybe you wouldn't have that feeling about the plot threads if that was how they'd ended up doing it

ah that might be why then. i thought it was that they originally filmed both seasons at once, but hearing that it's moreso that they split one season into two makes a lot more sense

There were also the rewrites like otti said, so they probably felt it would be better to split things up after they decided to do the rewrites

i hope S2 can clean up some of the off feelings i have about it so far. still very much enjoyed it but yeah, little things here and there were just off to me
