At least with Verso's ending no one has to have it over their head that everything is going to go away. The deed has already been done. With Maelle, the end of the canvas is delayed until Maelle dies inside the canvas or until Renoir has enough and comes back again.

 

 

The canvas might even go through another fracture if Renoir comes back so everything gets even more firetrucked until everyone dies.

 

from what I have heard the second part of the story was not well structured and it suffered in some ways

this should had been better fleshed out

I still need to play it myself because I don't trust the internet regarding their takes. especially not r/jrpg

and a few bit of explanation is also locked behind side content

people may have missed that

I have seen a few people play the game and I noticed how much set up and explanation there is for what's going on but you don't realize it until a certain moment

I think one gripe is towards the end with

act 3, it is very short for just the main stuff and i think the relationship stuff needs to be maxed out before doing it

 

There's also the powercscaling at the end for doing the main story is very whack

I skippped out on dialogue in the fights because I ended up beating them too fast

And I didn't even grind or do much sidecontent before doing the story, only the relationship stuff

so should I do the story before doing the sidecontent?
