I got so done with AC when I heard that they killed off the main antagonist that transcends the entire timeline in a comic

been playing the stranger of paradise demo again. what's up with this recent trend of ff games using a break/stagger system?

I think it goes all the way back to FF13 with that system, then again it's no different from the armor break gauge seen in other games at the time. It could be argued that it's just saves time from adding a large amounts of health or multiple health bars like in KH and FF12

Yeah I think the most recent FF that doesn't use that system is probably 15, hopefully 16 will not have that either

i find it to to be kind of a clunky system. like, you have to constantly attack an enemy to get it to the point where you can properly damage it, and if you let up too much, you'll have to start the process again. and even when you do break/stagger them, they inevitably regain their stagger bar, so regardless of whether you did or didn't break them, you have to do it all again

Yeah I have criticism towards that as well, not in a bad light but I wish it was better done overall where it's not grindy chip away process

Yeah I miss the crits, oh even the one hitter but thanks to that gauge it pretty much prevents it☹️

Yeah especially how gaming is now a days if you do crits or one hit kills its considered OP😩
Really missed those days where nobody cares about it being like that as long as it's fun

but what about the Level 1 No damage no magic no equipment no movement no camera challenges, how can we have a modern action game without being able to do those challenges!?!?

in reality, twas an easier time back then when finding those weaknesses and gaining crits was the coolest shit

I know but there was time where no one really cared if it was a challenge, or if it was too easy or too hard, there was just one golden ideal that seems to click with everyone, to enjoy and have fun with the games they played.

But times change I guess

I want to laugh at this but…….

…I’m currently doing a level 1 Critical run of KH2.

level 1 critical?

what's that?

in final mix, there's an "ability" you can select to gain no experience and basically play the games on lvl 1. critical mode is harder than proud mode, the difficulty lvl for the games.

So essentially it's the ultimate challenge for KH2. Unless you count fighting the optional bosses with it, which I'm not even going to attempt!

i beat sephiroth on proud mode and there's no way you can make me go and fight lingering will

Honestly, the run isn't too bad so far. Like, it doesn't pull any punches ever, but it does get easier as you go. I think the toughest challenge so far has been the Village Cave fight in Land of Dragons. Holy shit is Mulan a bad party member and I quickly learned to fear Shadows when they gang up on you!

but then sometimes she does that fire dash thing and nukes 6 heartIess

It was basically like DmD/HoH from Devil May Cry 3 for me but much harder though in the fact because you really have to test your reflexes like guarding and reflecting alot.
