I remembered playing the original western version Nier on ps3, Drakengard was pretty dark, twisted and messed up in its own but Nier just takes it whole another level. Nier Automata was phenomenal as it stepped a little bit away from its dark apocalyptic fantasy roots to a more scifi one

It's a story from Neil Gaiman published in DC Comics. It's about one of the 7 Endless named Dream, also known as Morpheus, who has control over peoples dreams and also where he resides in.
