The main games aren’t any better. The only losing strategy in KH2 is to do nothing.

No your right it was interesting fun combat system in itself, that doesn't implement the MP magic system at all but instead requires on cooldowns, but hey it was fun using ars arcanum with worrying about mp conservation

It’s definitely a more shallow system and overall less enjoyable than the main system but it’s still fun imo.

Kingdom hearts 4 I think should have a darker story especially since it's taking ideas from versus 13 and also with Yozora Taking inspiration from Noctis from versus 13

And considering the fact that death ☠️ will be apart of the story since quadratum is the afterlife

Honestly it should grow like it's own audience and so far I like what we got

Any day I agree

I feel like KH3 is a good compromise of the two systems. Takes the strengths of both.

Hard agree

If the trailer is any indication, KH4 seems to be basically KH3 with a grappling hook and reaction commands which is chefs kiss

Of course theres definitely new mechanics we havent seen yet but this is a good foundation

Basically upgraded KH2 than 3 from the looks of it, the only thing I think that remains from 3 is probably keyblade transformations

KH3 does have a lot of great ground work to build on. Just needs some tightening up.

My issue with vanilla 3 was there was too much emphasis on flash, and flair; more style than anything.

The attractions, transformations and some of the moves too; it looked cool, but didn't feel that good.

I want Remind speed with 2's technicality

I mean weve got wallrunning, sliding, flowmotion, some sort of keyblade transformation-like mechanic, its definitely using 3 as a base

3 definitely has a lot of flash, but i honestly enjoy its combat the most as someone who enjoys a good technical challenge, but im not a combo junkie. On Critical I think it has a good balance of style and substance

3 was flash and once the remind move set was added really fun to play but that game gave you way to many options and all of them weren’t balanced properly

Eh I’ll agree the game was definitely overloaded with options but I liked that about it. Given it was the finale/a celebration of the series up to that point, having almost every game in the series represented mechanically was really neat.

Some features could’ve used better balancing but it wasn’t so bad that it took me out of it.

On Critical with Attractions turned off I find the game to be a really good challenge.

Well yeah I guess I'll agree to that as well, even though the story was probably it's biggest weakness the combat and it's options were great

And really the most significant issue in the story is Sora. He just didn’t have much to do.

You can say it felt rushed, maybe like KH1 where once the world is complete there is no episodic events to go back to like 2 or BBS

Yeah but the worlds were made longer to compensate. I honestly prefer that over the KH2 approach. KH2 feels bloated.

Yeah the story did not stick the landing

Rushed is definitely a good way to describe it hand waving away all the important payoffs pro have been waiting years for and instead bait future stuff lead to an unsatisfying defat of Xeahnort and ending

You would think Real Org. 13 would put up stuff and cause alot of hurdles to keep Sora busy like the OG Org.13 did in 2, but nope

Yeah I was hoping MX alongside Vanitas would show up in front of Sora periodically through out the game goading him like Xenmas would, shucks I think it would have been a good excuse for Vanitas to unleash more Unversed variety in other worlds to fight storywise besides Monstropolis

There are plenty of notes I could make but I think the overall strokes of KH3’s story were very satisfying especially given how much it had to tie up.

Also important to note is I marathoned all the games for the first time after KH3 came out

So I didn’t have years of anticipation and expectations piled up for what 3 would be like.

It’s also why I’m trying to manage hype for KH4. It’s fun to ride the train and be excited alongside everyone else, but the longer the wait and the stronger anticipation gets the harder it’ll be for the final product to ever live up to it.

That’s the problem with a long dev time. No matter what you make, some people just won’t be satisfied.

When I played 3 the first time, idk, but, it didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth, more a sour one, you know? After I beat it, I realized, I needed a break from Kingdom Hearts. For a lot of reasons, but, I needed some space. Once I beat the game, I didn't touch a Kingdom Hearts game for about a year- not until Re¤Mind came out.

I think I was too sucked in; living and dying by each trailer, refreshing KH13 all the time for new updates and stuff, Platinuming Chain of Memories 🙃

Now with Kingdom Hearts 4 on the horizon, I'm excited like how I was for 3, but, uh, healthier I guess?

That's not the right word but, I got a limited vocabulary lol
