OG had minigames but not to this extend

half of my friend group quit the game in costa del sol

Damn, that's not even halfway done

the game has huge pacing issues because of minigames and not having a story until chapter 9

which causes people to quit because nothing exciting is happening

but that is IiteraIIy not even-

it's honestly worrying. Part 3 has the most memorable moments of FF7 and I don't want it to be rushed

Honestly the thing that's stopping it from wanting to plat this is to let me be OP

Just give me all the materia I want

I want to cast synergy left and right, I want to do a proper mage build, let me make one of them an actual tank

Like you can still do it but its limited by the limited materia and I understand doing that on a first playthrough but let me do whatever I want after

Even the original did that to an extent

Which is why I am begging for the baby materia system to be implemented in part 3

rebirth's ending is fine but it too doesn't poke at you enough

might have something to do with the surpIus of sephiroth appearances cuz this guy appears every other minute, says his 1 Iine, and Ieaves

my hatred is returning.

part 3 will be an absolute nightmare

the more I think about the ending, the more I think that they really made a not good ending because they wanted to both bake their cake and eat it. If they had committed to Areith dying or living, I feel like it would have make it a lot more digestible and coherent. And you can even make the Cloud and Aerith final battle work by chawking it up to lifestream shenanigans. But doing the whole shrodingers Areith thing really takes the emotion out of the scene and replace it with confusion

 

I feel like I'm preaching to the choir with this

and truth me told, I WANTED to like the ending just to be different from everyone else but the more I thought about it, the more...I think unsatisfied I am with the ending

 

 

though, to play devil's advocate for a second, I think there is a lot of interesting things you can do with this ending and how to move on from grief and whatnot and I think that might be the direction they're going for, but Rebirth really has the case of the middle child syndrome and is kinda reliant on Part 3 to be strong which is kinda annoying

If y'all want my thoughts after finishing the game last week

 

I guess really the only part that I didn't like was how they handled Areith's death. The lifeclinger fight was sick, Cloud and Zack fighting together was awesome, and because Zack had an actual moveset, I'm willing to suspect that Zack is gonna be a party member in part 3. The Sephiroth reborn fight was badass as well. It's just Areith that I feel like they mishandled

 

yeah that's how I and the others felt as well

I was honestly really excited for the new story but they dropped the ball so hard on this

especially because

they drop all this shit in the final 2 hours of the game. even remake did that better because it mostly didn't affect the og story beats. the crazy shit happened after shinra hq was already over

 

That was exactly what I thought /said;

having their cake and eating it||. Cause listen, ||I love Aerith, and 'real' or not, her and Cloud fighting Sephiroth with the power of love, in a vacuum, in the moment; so sick.
