Pretty sure my computer has a virus

Posted

Whenever I try and go on Firefox, it gives me a fake "virus warning" from "Windows xP Security 2011" or some BS like that.

what do, KH13?

if it's one of thing adverts that says ''ZOMG YOU HAVE 2 MILLION VIRUSES ON YOUR COMPUTER, THEY'RE ABOUT TO EAT YOUR FACE!!!!! DOWNLOAD THIS TO GET RID OF THEM ALL.'' just ignore them

if it's from trusted software on your computer, you'll need some security software to help fix it.

It's definitely fake. The only problem is that it already somehow downloaded itself to my computer and I can't get it off.

Either way, I just decided to put all my shit on a flashdrive and restore it.

System Restore foo'. Thats the way to go.

Tried system restore earlier today. It was working for a while, but after I tried to install Norton again, I started getting these "Blank Window"/"hello4" things.

Go farther back.

You should have had Avast 6 installed. You wouldn't have gotten a virus.

Going back further didn't help. Apparently now the problem is that I lost the proxy server.
