Its felt like forever since there's been much discussion about Ansems data and those in torment so here we go.

To be more specific, lets talk in terms of when and why Ansem hid the data in Sora. If you may recall, he hid the data as a means of clearing his conscience, which means he was obviously disturbed with what he was doing and what had happened in the past. The odd thing is that from what we have seen in days and kh2 is that he acted like a complete jerk to Roxas and others practically treating them like animals; in other words, he it seems he could definitely care less about them. What we rarely saw was that he did actually feel remorse, but in most cases he was too stubborn to accept it and reveal that he was wrong to others. In the secret Ansem's reports, in its confidentiality, he apologises to mickey and admits how wrong he has been. He didn't even reveal the purpose of the data to Namine.

The way I see this scenario working out and the purpose of the data is pretty baffling, but this is my take on it. As confirmed by Nomura and Namine, Diz was researching (ehh, can't remember specifically, but something about memories and whatnot) when they came across memories of Ventus. At the world that never was, Diz admits that he is sorry for what he has done in addition to his stubbornness to concerning a heart being more than data could be. Now, I doubt this was the only thing he deluded himself of and so he also lied to himself and others about Roxas the last week of his life. Although it is not clear that Diz felt bad for all that has happened maybe when he observed Roxas truly feeling, he put together everything about Ven and his torment's followed by everyone else. Only in the confidentiality of his reports did Ansem reveal his feelings of remorse, he didn't even reveal this to Namime. However, say if Ansem did in fact hide the data prior to Roxas' capture. The purpose of the data would be greatly limited and in the area that may be the hardest to cure besides Xehanort. Conclusion: Ansem hid the data in Sora following Roxas' capture and prior to Sora's awakening to for everyone in torment to get rid of his guilt or redeem himself .

In re:coded an interesting point is made, at the start of hollow bastion part 2. Data Riku tells Sora to escape his data while he can and also take with him extra data that did not belong in the journal (I think this is what Namine brings up in the conclusion). Sora then brings up the question, "the same person that hid the data in you". In other words, right there is the answer to why Riku was chosen for the data, it was Diz. What does this mean for bbsv2? It is going to have a larger emphasis on the data and Diz, explaining further the situation of the journal. (Diz is also the character that I believe will tie everyone's stories together, but that is for a different discussion). Diz is sort of the enigmatic character working all of the things going on behind the scenes making him the perfect focus character for the game that will tell the story of everything that has yet to be told.

With kh3 being about saving those in torment we can now see how this game, while not going to lead into kh3, is going to pave the way for one of the main purposes of the game in the big scheme of things.

I rarely completely agree with other people's theroies but I can find no wrong in this one. Nice job.

Interesting theory nice :D

I always wondered what Riku meant with that in re: coded, this makes it make sense.

I must say I agree 100% with this.
