Cartoon Network really has some shi77y cartoons on these days

Posted

In case you haven't heard, some guy on youtube named PingasGuy made a petition to help CN realise how much ppl want the 90's classics to come back.

We currently have 427 signatures (Destai_Dream_XIII and *Rikku* contributed) our goal is to have 10,000 (that's a lot I know).

The link to the website is right here: http:// http://www.petitions...artoonCartoons/

The Crappy Era of CN (2004-2011)

Remember Cartoon Cartoon Fridays from the late 90's? Yeah well that used to be the best Cartoon Block on TV. This was one of the greatest things that ever happened to Cartoon Network. I'm sure millions of people would watch Cartoon Cartoon Fridays with excitement. Kids these days know nothing of the greatness Cartoon Network used to be.

I mean seriously how can you watch Chowder, Adventure Time or Johnny Test and call it funny? Seriously Chowder is just a rip off of SpongeBob with the comedy and the writer must be a SpongeBob fanatic becasue the show has a lot of similarites to SpongeBob. Johnny Test isn't really a CN show because it cane off of WB Kids so it gets a freebee. As for Adventure Time... please don't even get me started.

The Golden Age of CN (1997-2003)

Ahhh, these were the good days. Coming back home from school on a Friday night watching Cartoon Cartoon Fridays (oh well of course you would not remeber these memories if you were born during the 21st Century). Even during Cartoon Networks Golden Age there were not a lot of great shows.

Cartoon Networks Golden Cartoons (or classics)

Dexter's Labratory

Cow and Chicken

Johnny Bravo

Ed Edd and Eddy

Courage The Cowardly Dog

The PowerPuff Girls

Time Squad

Sheep In The Big City

Samurai Jack

^These are classic cartoons. These are what kids from the 90's used to watch. These are what kept Cartoon Network from running out of buisness. These are what allowed Cartoon Network to compete with Disney and Nick. These are what you 2002 kids need a dose of.

All I'm saying is the sh^t that comes on Cartoon Network these days is just pure manure, not funny, idiotic, and totally ruined CN. This was back when Cartoons were actually watchable.

Cartoon Networks Silver Age

Kids Next Door

Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends

The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy

Camp Lazlo

Star Wars The Clone Wars

These cartoons were okay but not comparable to the classics ^above.

Cartoon Network Pure Manure Age (2004-2011)

Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi

Flapjack

Chowder

Robotboy

Squirrel Boy

The Secret Saturdays

The Amazing World of Gumball *Epic Shi77y*

Adventure Time *Epic Shi77y*

Regular Show *Epic Shi77y*

My Gym Partners a Monkey

Ben 10

And the list go's on...

^These were some of the shows that messed up Cartoon Network and the main reason why people don't watch it anymore.

CN Real

The OtherSiders

Destroy Build Destroy *Extreme Sh7t

BrainRush *More Sh7t*

Tower Prep

Dude What Would Happen?

Okay I take back what I said before. The main reason why Cartoon Network is losing so many viewers is because of CN Real. CN Real has a whole bunch of live-action shows that involve stupid kids doing stupid sh7t. It's not even entertaining and a lot of people over the interntet hate it. People on Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, Forums, everyone hates it.

And the worst thing about CN Real is it has live action shows in it.

Last time I checked, Cartoon Network is supposed to have Cartoons and Cartoons only in it. Now they decide to make some crap named CN Real? They might as well call it Live-Action Network becasue in twenty years I can see Live-action shows taking over Cartoon Network.

If you agree with me and think that Cartoon Network has some shi77y shows on and you would like to re-watch the classics rather then get totured watching Adventure Time and Regular Show, click on the link above all the way at the top^.

And remember, you don't have to donate any money where it says donate you can just skip that and submit your signature.

It will ask you to put your First and Last Name, E-mail adress and Zip-Code. All of this stuff is required but you don't have to put a real Zip-Code for it to work.

So please sign the petition. You spent all that time reading this topic. It will only take a minute.

EDIT: Yes I know some of Cartoon Networks Classics come on Boomerang at Night time. Notice how I said "some". Also Re-Animated ruined CN as well. They obviously tried to copy Disney with that show.

  • hey I like Adventure Time. also guys, it isn't a 'fact' that all those 'golden age' cartoons are the best. they were the best in our minds, but trust me, try showing any of that to kids right now, it

  • I'm sorry but you don't seem to know what you are talking about. Fosters was good but doesn't stand up to the others. The only thing notable about Fosters was that it was easily the most creative cart

In my opinion, the dark age ended somewhere around 2009. True, alot of the shows have just been average such as Adventure Time and Regular Show. However, I actually like some of the new shows such as

It was supposed to be wb show but when cn took over wb aminated shows they got Justice league but justice league am pretty sure never aired on wb so i pretty sure it should count.on wiki for justice league it says it was on cartoon network.I liked wb aminated shows at it's prime better than cartoon network at it's.

Same w/ Pokemon, back in the day.

I almost cried when it left WB kids (I was 10ish).

That is also why Cartoon Network developed Boomerang and why it is releasing all of it's old shows on DVD boxsets. I wouldn't mind a better variety of old shows that show on the network, but I don't think the amount of time the old shows get on the channel needs to be expanded.

Boomerang does not show all of the classic cartoons of the Golden Age and the boxsets are only for like three of the cartoons.

That's not enoguh for fans to be satisfied.

I think most of the old shows having episodes reposted on Cartoon Network's web site might serve as a better compromise if that is still enough for the fans of the old cartoons. That and perhaps a small clipshow similar to Nicktoons Moments with scenes from the old cartoons would be nice. This way the company doesn't lose any airtime, and the company will make more money off of it's advertising on their website.

Yeah but a lot of people won't take the time to watch cartoons online.

People would rather watch it on TV... until after 1 or 2 months of Cartoon Network shoving the old cartoons down our throats. People would get tired of them and want to see something new. By then, the studios would have probably gotten a little lazy and wouldn't have had anything good to show the fans, and Cartoon Network would go right back into the gutter. Plus, by simple TV logic, new episodes should get more ratings than reruns, and you can't add new episodes to the old cartoons. You can reboot some of them, (which Cartoon Network has already done) but you can't add new episodes to the origionals.

True, true and true.

But I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say.

People would rather re-watch old cartoons from Cn's Golden Age then watch the garbage they have on now.

Sure people would get tired of it, but it's better then all the crap that comes on these days.

Nothing will satisfy CN fans untill they see Cartoon Cartoon Fridays come back on the air.

Unlike you, I actually like some of the things they have on currently, and there are a lot of other people who do as well. A lot of them have a very nice presentation and actual reacurring plots. This is something that the old golden age era cartoons lack. I'm going to be blunt here. How many people are there in comparison to the origional amount of people who watched the cartoons back in the 90s that are willing to watch these old shows for more than 1 or 2 episodes or a random marathon? Not alot. Maybe 1/8, max. That's not enough to completly shun all the new fans who have come to watch the network for a minority that will probably end up not watching the cartoons anyway after a couple of months. Truth be told, another reason I don't like what your trying to support here is that I don't want Cartoon Network to ruin the fond memories I have of these shows. I want them to be as glorious as they are in my head, and if they are rebroadcasted this way, there is a 99% chance that they won't. This is why I support putting the old shows online. The viewer can actually decide how much is too much of a certain show. And again Cartoon Network doesn't lose the fans of the new shows it has already gained.

I've read your whole post your facts are not 100% accurate. A lot of people would want Cartoon Cartoon Fridays to come back not "1/8 max".

These days cartoons on CN aren't even watchable. I respect your opinion but, research your facts because that post of yours did not state facts that are 100% true.

Also can you stop replying back becasue you're pretty much going against what I have to say in every way.

TheKHTheorist actually does have a point. A lot of CN's viewers now are kids born after 2000. What 10-11 year old kid is going to recognize any of the Golden Age Cartoons? Believe it or not, teenagers (or older) are no longer in CN's target demographic, which they want to please the most. Obviously, shows like Adventure Time must be popular with SOME people or else they wouldn't keep playing them.

I agree. why is "Dude what would happen" and "Destroy build destroy" be popular for boys? They make NO sense whatsoever! now "the othersiders" kinda did, you get a brief history lesson, and get to witness ghosts! but i enjoy adventure time, it's alright.

on a side note...

ED EDDN EDDY!!!! I LOVE THAT SHOW!!!!! AND I LAUGHED AT THE ENDING WHEN HIS BROTHER GETS THE KANKERS AN- woah spoiler X:

Petitions like these rarely work. Ever. From experience.

Cartoon Network is a buisness. To keep up with everyone, they need to MOVE FORWARD. Sure, nobody really likes it when their favorite show has to end, but they need new ideas to keep fresh, and to keep up with their current veiwers.

As DLC said, someone has to be watching the stuff they put on, or they wouldn't be making them anymore. It's better for them, and you, to just move on.

  • Author

Well DLC, you stated some really good points. You to -Ventus-.

And I would have to agree with you guys, but unless something great like Cartoon Cartoon Friday's happens again, Cartoon Network will fall into the gutter.

Eventually, CN will lose a lot of viewers because there Cartoon's lack the quality of a "classic" or "entertaining" cartoon.

CN is shit without Johnny Bravo!

None of these "Golden Age" shows compare to Fosters

I don't even watch the Cartoon Network cartoons. I just watch all the anime they air.

No point on doing a petition but I still remembered the cartoons back then. I am weasel, johnny bravo and so on that was listed here. We had Looney Toons, popeye, The Hanna-Barbera cartoons( flinstones, jetsons, etc..), and also the starting point of the dexter, power puff girls, etc.. series with "What A Cartoon!" show. It was hard for me to watch them as they were only on a weekly basis at the time until a few years later when they start airing them back-to-back episodes.

And to me, the golden age of CN started back in 1995 as it was the first time for me to watch CN on that year and also the starting point of "What A cartoon!". Don't know whats "What A cartoon!"? check wikipedia.

Cartoon Network started shwoing original CN Cartoons during 1997

We have Six people from this website that have signed the petition. Feel free to add more.

True, but still, you should have added other things, before 1997, and Toonami, as those were really what got Cartoonnetwork more views.

  • Author

I'm not the one that made this petition. Obviously you guys didn't read the whole thread.

None of these "Golden Age" shows compare to Fosters

I'm sorry but you don't seem to know what you are talking about. Fosters was good but doesn't stand up to the others. The only thing notable about Fosters was that it was easily the most creative cartoon out of all of them. However the animation is lack-luster, the characters are bland and one dimensional and the episodes are forgettable.

Codename: Kids Next Door was another one of the creative yet rather annoying cartoons. The first few seasons were good but as time went they literally used every cliche and stolen plot they could dish out. They copied star wars at least 3 times for example.

The only truly good cartoon was the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. It was funny, creative, had multidimensional characters, pretty much everything for a good cartoon.

hey I like Adventure Time.

also guys, it isn't a 'fact' that all those 'golden age' cartoons are the best. they were the best in our minds, but trust me, try showing any of that to kids right now, it's more than likely they will not like it.

we love them because

we grew up with them

in 10 years, the CN right now will be considered the 'golden age' for the kids of today and whatever cartoons are airing then will be seen as crap by them.

get over, it's a new generation, deal with it.

I'm tired of all this 90' kids shit.

seriously. most of us aren't even considered 90's kids.

unless you were born in like 1990-1995, you wouldn't even remember the 90s

Just because we think our shows are superior doesn't mean they are. 90 kids aren't the best generation.

We're the bitchiest generation to say the least.

Also 'classic cartoons' are Tom and Jerry, Looney Toons, and stuff like that :I

also Robotboy and Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi were good. Not crap at all :I Imo.

Fosters, I loved, KND great, etc.

anyways

tl;dr: EVERYONE STOP BEING FREAKING ELITIST PRICKS, A PETITION WON'T HELP ANYTHING AND IN 10 YEARS THESE 'CRAPPY' SHOWS RIGHT NOW WILL BE CONSIDERED SUPERIOR TO THE KIDS TODAY.

Late 90's? I was watching Sesame Street then. xD The only thing I really liked on the Golden Classics list was the Powerpuff girls. (And I forced my dad to take me and my best friend to see the movie because I was an evil little girl.) Granted, I didn't like much on the now list, either, but my brothers love it. I guess it's a matter of opinion, not that they're all nessecarily what you called them.

Well DLC, you stated some really good points. You to -Ventus-.

Eventually, CN will lose a lot of viewers because there Cartoon's lack the quality of a "classic" or "entertaining" cartoon.

nope, they'll lose the viewers they have as they get older and they start putting new stuff and gain new viewers.

their shows are targeted at CHILDREN.

there are always plenty of children in the world. they won't lose viewers lol.

Well you have to admit that the quality of cartoons has been degrading slowly as time goes on. Sure, they will appeal to the kids of the generation they were designed for but you clearly see some degeneration with the cartoons.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30Gb4iS9KNs

Here is Tom and Jerry, one of the greatest, if not, the greatest cartoon ever made. The first thing you will notice is the animation is superior to anything from today, the 00s and the 90s. Next is the plot of the episode is consistent while still remaining entertaining to adults and children alike.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjT25Iiyrr4

Now I present Courage the Cowardly Dog. It still has the same qualities as Tom and Jerry except for quality animation. Yeah its acceptable but not nearly as smooth as cartoons from the Tom and Jerry era.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpbdQx0nBPg

Here is the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy along with Codename: Kids Next Door. This is one of those cross over episodes but most full ones have been removed or put in segments. As you can see, the animation is pretty bad, the plot makes no sense at all and doesn't even appear to try and make sense but is entertaining nonetheless. You can still get a few laughs out of it but don't expect anything more.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Di_LO1JqopA

And here we have chowder. Poor animation, no real plot, and not entertaining at all mostly because it took every joke from every cartoon ever created. We've all seen it before, except little kids who haven't seen it, which is why they seem to find it entertaining.

Also the idea of children not liking the cartoons from previous generations is rather flawed, as multiple television networks have been showing Tom and Jerry reruns for a good 10 to 20 years now.
