When and how Riku gets his Keyblade

Posted

i think riku's sword changed into a keyblade when they where in "the world that never was" and the machine (when it blew up) it changed riku and maybe it changed his sword too into a keyblade. just a thought, like ansem the wise said, anything could happen. the reason i say this is because in the beginning parts of the game (kh2) he was using his regular soul eater sword. what do you guys think?

nice theory but he could have earned it sooner i quess

what was he using directly before the explosion?

thanks, and yes

becuase right up to the explosion he only had his soul eater, but after the explosion he has way to dawn but hey i could be wrong

i don`t think so cuz when you see that riku was battling saix to rescue namine and kairi, his sword has already turned into way to the dawn

oh yeah thats right forget what i said i cant believe i forgot about that lol

Riku's Soul Eater turns into Way to Dawn before he gets to TWTNW, but after you fight him in Land of Dragons. Sometime between those two events is when it happens.

I wonder if Dream Drop Distance will touch base on that...hopefully.

I'd put my marbles in bbsv2 as it should be one of the "blank points" needing to be told.

Keep in mind that Riku could have been in Ansem form when Sora fought him. You can't tell because of the cloak.

I didn't say anything about him being in Ansem form. I was talking about Way to Dawn. He's stuck in Ansem form from his fight with Roxas, until after the machine explodes and he gets turned back. You an even tell by the shape of his body in the cloak when you fight him that it's Ansem form.

What I'm getting at is that Riku could have Way to Dawn before then, but because he was in Ansem form we didn't see it.

Also, I THOUGHT the Ansem body shape thing was true, but I wasn't sure, so I didn't post it :P

Just because he was in Ansem form doesn't mean we couldn't see it as Way to Dawn. We could when he was in TWTNW, so we'd be able to see it as that beforehand during the fight if he had it. It wouldn't show up as Soul Eater if he had Way to Dawn. His form doesn't effect the form his sword takes. Soul Eater was a sword, then it got changed into a Keyblade at some point between LoD visit 2, and TWTNW, and became Way to Dawn. It has nothing to do wih him being in Ansem form or his original form.

I guess you're right.

Why does he switch between the two at all though? When he meets up with Sora, he uses Soul Eater, yet he uses Way to Dawn when he meets Kairi. What's the point of switching?

He didn't switch. Soul Eater is a sword. It turned into the Keyblade Way to Dawn. Riku didn't switch them, it just transformed.

He has Soul Eater when he's with Sora before turning back to Riku though.

No he doesn't, he has Way to Dawn. They look alike, since they're the same weapon, only transformed.

Wait, really? I haven't seen the scene in a while, but I could have sworn that during encounters with Luxord and Saix he had Soul Eater

Well, if he did it was probably a graphical mistake.

Well, again, I haven't seen the scenes in a while, but I could have sworn he consistently uses Soul Eater for combat throughout ALL of TWTNW, only using Way to Dawn when he turns back to Riku.

Now I kinda want to replay KH2... the game has so many ridiculously small hidden things I'm sure I'll stumble onto SOMETHING.

i never noticed that but i think he never even had a keyblade and helping sora made his heart strong enough for 1 but i think his soul eater doesn't change in appeaence just a

So is Nomura actually planning to tell us how Riku got his keyblade? From what i understand Riku got his keyblade sometime between the second visit in The Land of Dragons and when he appears in The World That Never Was. Did his keyblade just pop up out of nowhere and Riku was just like oh cool i got one now.

I think his Keyblade actually appeared sometime during Days. He just chose not to use it, because even thought he couldn't face him, he still wanted Sora to recognize him. But they didn't make a big deal out if it. Riku knew he was capable of it so he wasn't that surprised about receiving one.

We don't know exactly when/how he got his keyblade but it's based off of the Soul Eater (though still a different keyblade).

Well since he was given the ceremony by Terra and was proven worthy he was just chosen by another keyblade eventually later on( using Soul Eater as a base ) after the original keyblade in KH1 ended up permanently choosing Sora..

In Birth By Sleep, it explains that Terra essentially made Riku his successor, and that Riku would inherit the Keyblade from him.
