3DS is failing too much, it'll be the biggest fail in Gaming History.

With development for KH3D halfway done, it seems a little silly to cancel it for the 3DS. Nomura and the team want to experiment with the 3D effects and stuff anyway.

And if the 3DS still doesn't do so well after its price drop? Oh well. Bummer I paid $250 and not $170 for it. I kind of feel like $250 wasn't really worth it (and no, I do not consider the 20 games compensation seeing as I am a young gamer who does not feel nostalgia for old games and is not fond of old graphics), but $170 would be worth it. Just saying. I got way more out of my DS Lite in its first four months than I have with the first four months of my 3DS.

Yeah, they had a huge price drop. But oh well, I don't want it for the 3D games, I couldn't care less about those. I just need a new ds and this will make my pokemon look better.

Well, I would have to agree a little bit on what you said but I wouldn't really say it's failing. More like that not much people are buying it due to the lack of games and the price for it as well. Luckily, the 3DS is supposed to get a price drop on August 12th. Which should boost up sales of the 3DS a little bit and have Nintendo reach their goal of getting the number of sales they said they wanted. And sure 3DS games like MML3 and Assassin's creed: Lost legacy got cancelled. But that doesn't mean that KH3D will likely get cancelled. it would just tick off fans and cause them to go on a rampage (like with MML3 for example), and then start a petition of bringing it back. But like I said, KH3D is unlikely to get cancelled. Especially since it's an important KH title that talks about KH3 at long last. I'm sure Nomura wouldn't go out of his way and say "oh well guess what KH fans. KH3D is getting cancelled because *insert reason here*. We are so sorry and we hope you continue to support us". So don't wory, KGH3D will come.

Remember, that other than Orcarina of Time, no other major games have come out. Most people have been biding their time to buy a 3DS when a popular game comes out that intrests them. I'm not buying a system for Virtual Console and Piolotwings Resort.

It'll pick up when these game series come out:

Mario (and Luigi's Mansion)

Pokemon

Kid Icarus

KH3D

and a whole bunch of other stuff not even announced yet.

What the two above said. I really want to believe in them :P

I'm waiting a month before KHDDD's NA release......hopefully they have the red 3DS available. >3<

I say chill and relax. Wait till Christmas is coming around and kids are asking for a 3Ds. Once we get the nintendo games and some of the Japanese games are released in NA the sales will go up. But fail? Nah. If they have to they'll make a new 3DS model with extra features and promote that, but they won't let it die. That would just be stabbing themselves in the foot.

I think it'll work like the ps3 did. It starts weak then gets better and better.

A failed launch period does not mean that the system will fail. And Kingdom Hearts DDD (or the others you mentioned) won't get cancelled just because of a failed launch period. It is really baffles me how so many people are saying that the 3DS is going to be a complete and utter failure just because it hasn't done well for the first four months. Just because the Wii and DS became successful quickly (and I am pretty sure the DS didn't take off that quickly either). Yes the price drop might seem a little depressing (especially if you are one who bought it for $250, but hey, those 20 games satisfy me), but just view it as a chance for the 3DS to become more successful.

I think they that should realese it on the 3DS. The Kingdom hearts has a series where if it is on a platform that other people don't have, people will buy the platform just to play Kingdom hearts. many of you know this to be true because you do it. By the time kh3D comes out, the 3DS would have sold alot more devices.

Honestly I blame the failure of the 3ds on the wii. I mean the wii is overall a gimmick of a console(IMO) I mean the big hook for the wii was the whole motion control thing, but then they turned around and allowed most games to be playable by controllers which takes away for the wii's major selling point. The 3ds basically is the same thing. It's major sellin point is the 3d quality but it can be turned off...basically making it a $250 ds...so I think people got tired of nintendo's gimmicks and saw through this thing. I mean I have nothin against nintendo but I think this was a wake up call they needed.

I just need a new ds and this will make my pokemon look better.

If you just want your pokemon to look better, get a DSi or DSi XL. Because of the backwards compatibility, the screens aren't as crisp when playing regular DS games on the 3DS. They're a teensy bit blurry (particularly on the upper screen). I'd been playing Pokémon White on my 3DS for so long, that when I put it in my DS Lite for the first time (battery ran out), my eyes went O_O at how much sharper it was. And I say DSi or DSi XL because of 1) screen size, 2) color/brightness of DSi > DS Lite.

I'm thinking about getting my DS Lite repaired though. I was going to get a new one (before they're GONE) because I can't play KH DS games on my 3DS without my fingers and hands hurting badly. ;_; The controls don't feel as smooth or quick on the 3DS either. DS Lite buttons = PSP buttons = PS2 buttons in softness/press. Which is good for KH games, 'cause you need to be quick in pressing. The 3DS buttons are more firm, and need more pressure. Hence, my hurting fingers (and I REALLY try not to press too hard and try to change my holding positions). I don't know how button mashing would feel on the DSi (I know those buttons have a certain click to them), so that's why I was going with another Lite for safety. Then I walked into a random game store and the guy told me they could just fix the Lite I had for $30. ^^ So I might do that. Cheaper than $100.

Oh, and why else am I doing this besides the fact I can't play KH so well on my 3DS? I'm returning my 3DS, as Nintendo said I could since it hurt my fingers, and I am not happy with having paid $250 and getting a bunch of old games I don't even want. xD I'll just wait til Flare Red is in NA (I hope) and get that for KH3D. I'm just concerned with button usage when playing KH3D, since we'll definitely be pressing buttons a lot in a KH game. :(

I'm confused though, 'cause a guy who both bought the Aqua Blue and Flare Red 3DS's in Japan said they had a different button feel from each other. He thought the blue one was softer, and the red one had more of a click (more like the DSi? I dunno). So. I have no clue. But if my fingers are going to hurt while playing what will be one of my favorite games ever I'm sure, I'm waiting to pay $80 less and have a color that is more awesome. :P

On topic: I blame the high price and the low level game library of the 3DS for it's failure. :P Will be fixed by next summer, I'm sure! http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png

1-The screens aren't as crisp because the screens are bigger, so a filter is placed to smooth out the graphics. If the blue filter bothers you, you can play DS games at their normal resolution by pressing certain buttons (I can't remember what the combo is, google it) The filter DOES game some games look better, particularly 3D games.

But the XL and DSi just have bigger screens, so you just get bigger, uglier pixels.

2. As far as I'm concerned, the circle pad is a godsend for KH games, and easily dwarfs any finger discomfort.

3. Yes, the high price was definitely a problem

Honestly I blame the failure of the 3ds on the wii. The 3D can be turned off because it hurts lots of peoples eyes, and can damage peoples eyes if they're under 6 years old. But I think you hit the nail on the head. The 3DS was advertised as a 3D DS (No duh) but it has plenty of other features, decent graphics, motion controls, a touchscreen, etc. These can all lead to good things in games, while 3D can at best improve platforming games. In my opinion, the best part about the 3DS was the X-Box (Classic) level graphics, which would be easier to develop for than the Vita, which basically demands you pour as much money as you would in a console title into a handheld. In particular, I thought this would be good for KH games, since soon the 3DS will be the only console around that uses PS2 era graphics, the mainstay of the KH franchise.

People haven't seen through Nintendo's Gimmicks though, quite the opposite actually, people were actually disappointed that the 3DS (And Wii U) weren't Gimmicky ENOUGH! :P

I think it'll work like the ps3 did. It starts weak then gets better and better.

I hope so.

Yeah, a lot of big games are coming out, which REALLY highlights Nintendo's rush to release the 3DS. I mean, they couldn't even get PORTS done in time for the launch. I think a November release, in time for Super Mario 3D Land AND Ocarina of Time, alongside a functioning online setup, would have made the 3DS a LOT more appealing.

Well, I would have to agree a little bit on what you said but I wouldn't really say it's failing. More like that not much people are buying it due to the lack of games and the price for it as well. So don't wory, KGH3D will come.

Assasin's Creed Legacy didn't get 'canceled' it just turned out so awesome it was moved to teh HD consoles. MML3 is a great example as well, Square Enix is going through tough times, they can't afford to lose fans right now.

Yeah, they had a huge price drop. But oh well, I don't want it for the 3D games, I couldn't care less about those. I just need a new ds and this will make my pokemon look better.

The blur filter might help there, but aren't you more interested in the NEW Pokemonm games that are sure to be released for the 3DS? Nintendo will have no excuse now not to have fully polygonal graphics, so the battles should be fairly impressive at least.

Also, the 3DS has a pokedex.

With development for KH3D halfway done, it seems a little silly to cancel it for the 3DS. Nomura and the team want to experiment with the 3D effects and stuff anyway.

They don't have to cancel it, you've probably seen that it would work full well on the PSP.

But seriously, you don't think 20 games is good enough compensation? These aren't even second rate games or anything, these are some triple A games. Super Mario Bros 3. Yoshi's Island, Metroid Fusion. You don't need nostalgia to get you through a great game, and it saddens me to think you would judge them based on their graphics.

3DS is failing too much, it'll be the biggest fail in Gaming History.

There needs to be a class taught to people about videogame history , so they can avoid looking stupid when they make comments like these. It could touch on such bombs as the Virtual Boy, the Dreamcast, and the N-Gage. The many peripherals of the 80's.

This is serious people and i mean serious,

im afraid that the 3ds will fail and i mean FAIL.

Well there are a lot of games that got delayed for the 3DS for example The super Meatboy game it got delayed and...Im afraid that the KH3D will be canceld for the 3DS aswell maybe nomura will think of releasing it for the PSP Vita it's going in good progress but im mad about that i bought the 3DS for KH3D and for other games like metal gear solid and resident evil revelations im afraid that those games will be canceld and the whole 3DS thing will be History.

So whats your thoughts people?

I doubt the 3DS will fail. Nintendo is taking drastic measures to counteract their stupid and recoup their losses. The Christmastime price drop, coinciding with the release of 3 major 3DS Games, including a brand new Mario game, should bolster sales. There are a LOT of people who are just 'biding their time' to buy a 3DS, I doubt they realize that they're actually damaging it in the long run. But they may end up getting ti for Christmas or something.

Anyways, the folks at Super Meatboy... well, that's an Indy game. They're the first to get hit by this sort of thing, but I really don't see what a delay makes you so worried about. It's just a delay, it's not like it's getting canceled.

Besides, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil are still on schedule, in fact, Resident Evil is OUT, what are you worried about there? And the next one is not a long ways off either. MGS is also on track, with no signs of delay (It's just a port after all)

Now, I'm not going to say KH3D won't be canceled, because anything is possible. But with 50 percent completion, I'm going to bet they'll jsut go along with it. They WON'T port to the Vita though, that's for sure. I could see it going to the PSP, maybe, but do you have any idea how bad that looks? These games are advertised to sell consoles, so if square does this, they lose respect for ALL the KH fans who bought, or were going to buy, a 3DS for KH alone. And probably some of their friends, or people close to them.

I wish i had a dollar for every word on this page :D

Then you could buy 3DSs for all of us! :D

True dat!

1. Hey, I actually HAVE a 3DS. I've done the "normal resolution" setting before, and it shrinks the screen sizes down to even smaller than a DS Lite's screens---and it's pretty small. And games actually look good on the DSi and DSi XL. The DSi? It's really not much bigger than a Lite's, so the "downgrade" isn't even visible in resolution. For a DSi XL? Maybe so if you play games with old style graphics (Chrono Trigger, whatever). But the DSi should be fine.

2. Oh come on, why does everyone think I'm talking about the D-pad? Of COURSE I use the circle pad, I'm talking about ABXY which you can NOT use anything else for. KH? You have to press buttons quickly (and button-mashing is not uncommon), and buttons that require a much firmer press make it quite uncomfortable to play for more than 15 minutes--not like a DS Lite's buttons where I could play for hours.

I'm a "late" gamer. I didn't start getting into games until the end of 2008. I do not carry nostalgia for these games, I have no care for Mario games, and I seriously do not care if I am looked sadly upon for not being fond of old graphics. And anyway, if I had the choice of using $80 to get 20 old games or to save money on my 3DS, I'd rather save it. No interest in the games whatsoever. Besides, like I said, it hurts to play the games on the 3DS that I actually love, and I'm better off getting $250 back and a getting a system I can play them on. Then just waiting to see what happens to KH3D, which will probably come out on the 3DS anyway, so I'll get a cheaper and nicer colored 3DS when it happens. Like Flare Red or something. After owning a 3DS, I think $250 was way too much for it, and $170 sounds much more appropriate. $190 might have been fitting. But whatever.

1. I'll stop talking about resolution because, let's face it, it's different for everybody. It's like complaining about the 3D effect, it's different for everybody.

But the 'late gamer' thing needs to be addressed. I don't have nostalgia for these games either. I haven't played a lot of the NES games, and the GBA games I have played I played late. These games are fantastic, well crafted games, but you're writing them off because they're old. I got into gaming a bit before you, with games like Pokemon Red for he Gameboy Colour and such, and my older sisters owned and NES (Which they wouldn't let me play >:( ) so this nostalgia excuse is really weak. Have you played all these games? I've only every owned one, Metroid Fusion (Great game, never beat it) but I've emulated things like Yoshi's Island, and I bought the NES version of Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland, which was still fantastic, so GBA remake ought to be even better. I got SMB3 on Virtual Console last year, and I can easily understand why people still think it's the best Mario game to this day.

I just really have no interest in them. x3 Besides, I'd rather have my money back so I can decide what to do with it. Like get KH-related stuff.

That would be ideal, yes, but what's Nintendo going to do? Mail everybody 80 bucks? Nintendo doesn't really have a choice here: The games cost them next to nothing, and they can't really afford to give everybody the money back.

I know. I'm just saying what I'm doing. :P Maybe $80 worth of things off the e-Shop? You know, stuff that you get to choose. It still 'saves' them money, if you get what I mean. There's no material cost 'cause it's all digital. But no, they get to pick what to give, which is cool with some people, but I don't really want it.

I was going to return my 3DS anyway, even before I found out about the price drop and 20 free games. I'll wait for a red one or something. And I'm planning on getting my Lite fixed for $30 instead of buying a new one altogether. ^^

Trouble is, Nintendo doesn't own everything on the eShop. By selling their own games, all it costs is the price of putting the games in the system.

I know. But I would've preferred something like Link's Awakening to the things they're giving away.

Aw man, Links Awakening would have been awesome.

Oh well, maybe they'll give Minish Cap.
