Dream Drop Distance is a Xehanort Hunt? (Theory)

Posted

After rewatching the trailer, I suddenly thought of something. It seemed really obvious, and I'm not sure why I haven't heard of this idea before.

What if the plot of DDD is basically Sora and Riku (Maybe Mickey too) going after clones of Xemnas and Ansem SoF, who were created due to Xehanort being recreated. So basically, there are a bunch of phantoms of Xemnas and Ansem SoD going around causing trouble, but Sora and Riku can't do anything about it. So they have to do something (Travel to a parallel dimension, go to sleep, it doesn't matter) that temporarily allows them to face Xemnas and Ansem. Once the Drop Gauge runs out, they have to leave, or it swaps between Sora and Riku, something like that. Every world would end with Sora facing one, while Riku faces the other.

At the end, beating all these phantoms leads to the original Xehanort (In Terra's body) reforming, but they decide that there was too much risk in letting all those Xemnas' and Ansem SoD's stay around.

Cue KH3.

I dunno, sounds pretty plausible to me.

No. The trailer was made when 5% of the game of done. The story is about riku and Sora take their Mark of Mastery test or something like that

CLones? Does not sound right and has no ground.

The Mark of Mastery test is only part of the game. Much like how chasing Master Xehanort was only part of the game in bbs.

I was worried about that phrasing, I just couldn't think of any other any to put it. What I was referring to was a bit in one of Nomura's interviews where he said 'What if they were multiple Xehanorts, and Sora wasn't enough' clone was just the ebst word I could think of to describe them. Basically, they're a bunch of 'fragments' which, when defeated, form into Xehanort himself.

So, kind of like how when Heartless are defeated, the hearts collect together to form Kingdom Hearts? Except in Xehanort's case they would be 'fragments' of his person?

More or less. Basically a side effect of his Heartless and Nobody being defeated, combined with his fusion with Terra

Again, I'm only basing this on Nomura's whole 'Multiple Xehanorts' thing.

Could be plausible. I hadn't remembered the multiple thing before.

This is a really good theory. One of the best ones I have read yet, really..

its nice theory and i already thought about xemnas and ansem replikas...

Yeah that's not going to happen. Nothing in that trailer was canon to the story (I don't see what gameplay has to do with anything story related). I just don't see this happening.

Just because the trailer isn't canon doesn't mean the exact opposite of what it showed will happen. The trailer exists to show people what the game will be like.

What I find strange is the fact that I never really cited the trailer, so why are you assuming that's what I'm basing this on?

Look I just don't think this will happen and I'm sure many more people would agree. Can you respect my opinion? Well I could care less anyway.

If you could care less, why are you fishing for affirmation. I'm simply defending my theory.

I'll come back to this thread after TGS and see if this still holds up.
