Mickey's Mark of Mastery mystery

Posted

Terra and Aqua's MoM exam was to fight each other to test each other's heart. Sora and Riku's MoM exam is to travel to the realm of sleep and bring back the key of sleep. We all know that during the course of BBS, Mickey was on his MoM exam and became a master at the end of BBS, but it is never stated what he was supposed to do during his exam. I don't really have a theory, but I want to know what you think.

I dont think his test really mattered. Especially if all the tests are different which it what it seems like

Mickey didn't complete his MoM during BBS. He left during it to help TAV defeat the Unversed. He went back after and completed it sometime between BBS and KH1.

But it is never explained what he had to do. Aren't you the least bit curious?

So that scene when Yen Sid gave him back his keyblade happened after BBS? Nomura never made that clear at all. As a matter of fact, didn't we have to find out he was a master during an interview? Nomura must have made Mickey a master at the last second so that Sora and Riku wouldn't be masters before him.

I think it was sort of like Sora and Riku's. Maybe not the Realm of Sleep, but I think there were illusions maybe. There was that scene when he was standing on that book in the whirlpool. And in the original trailers, he was seen dodging lightning...

I thought that Yen Sid was just giving him the keyblade back. It didn't mean he was making him a master. I'll have to watch it again.

Perhaps for Mickey's MoM Yen Sid said, "I will send you to the Realm of Darkness and if you can come back, you'll be a master." Hence Mickey being in the Realm of Darkness xD Then for Sora and Riku's, he thought, "Well, I can't send them to the Realm of Darkness like I did with Mickey... I'll send them to the World of Sleep!"

No, Mickey went to the Realm of Darkness to find the Kingdom Key D so he could seal Kingdom Hearts.

Well, all of the exams have to do with strenght of heart; that's what being a keyblade master is all about. It was probably something simpler than what Sora and Riku are going through though.

Ooh I just thought maybe that will be in BBS volume II, if it's a real thing.

He was king before BBS.

I really do not care about any disney characters in the game lol

They all annoy me.

Except Maleficent.

azure, you really know your stuff lol .. maybe they'll explain his M.O.M in BBS.V2

Actually, Mickey did complete his MoM during BBS. He left during the MoM, but at the end of the game, Yen Sid deems him worthy of being Master for his courageousness and the need to help the others, hence why Yen Sid gave the keyblade back to Mickey.

I highly doubt it, seeing as though he completed it in BBS.

Yen Sid would have said that Mickey passed when giving it back to him. It is never stated that he passed during the game, and there are many reasons why Yen Sid could have given it back to Mickey. For example, Mickey gives it back because he think's he failed for leaving during it and won't be a Master, but Yen Sid gives it back as to say he's got another chance at it. There is no in-game confirmation that he's a Master or when he became one, we only know because Nomura told us.

And is this not what Nomura's interviews are for? For things we don't/might not know in-game, he explains afterwards. For example, why Terra can do the inheritance ceremony even though he's not a master, which he explains after. If Mickey's Mark of Mastery was that important it would have been mentioned in-game, but the fact Nomura tells us that Yen Sid deemed Mickey worthy because of what happened, and that at the end of the game, gave Mickey back the keyblade(without telling him because its in the credits so we wouldn't know) is still confirmation.

For someone who says this and that was confirmed by Nomura(like me), you kinda questioning this.

My assumption was the he did not actually take the test at all, but simply by 1) Being a king, and 2) his efforts in helping out Ventus, Terra and Aqua, that Yen Sid just deemed him worthy of the rank of Master.

Then by that logic, Sora and Riku don't even need to take the MoM exam and DDD would be pointless. Do you want DDD to be pointless?

He did take it, the scene where he was on the book was part of his exam.

I could be a homeless man on the street and still help Terra, Ven, and Aqua. Just saying.

A homeless man is not quite the same rank as king.

Mybe it was the realm of sleeep?,,,,

Being a King is irrelevant since they aren't his people. Mickey's helping them like any other person.....because it's the right thing to do.

I really don't know

tutti frutti. Much like Azure has mention, unless confirmed otherwise by Nomura, we won't really know if Mickey went through the MoM during the events of BBS. At the very least, Mickey was trained by Yen Sid, and the scene where mickey is surfing on the whirlpool could have been part of his training. The scene where Mickey is handed his Keyblade back from Yen Sid could have literally been a reference from anything. (Example: not being able to help Terra, Aqua, Ven completely, though this is debateable) If Mickey truly was being put through the MoM, then Yen Sid would have at least mentioned it at some point during the events of the game. If Yen Sid had been having the feeling of something about to happen, as he stated in the game, he could have waiting until things subsided for a while to give Mickey the exam. I can more so see Mickey going through the exam between the events of BBS and KH1.
