Japanese astronaut plans to grow cucumbers in space

Featured Replies

See, this is why I hate that the US shut down the shuttle program. If the need arises for us to grow cucumbers in space, we won't know how to do it. We'll have to go to the Japanese for this technology. This is valuable information we're missing out on.

If he just plans to grow them in the space shuttle that's not too bad. It isn't completely unheard of to try and have plants and vegetation to space to see if it could still grow and prosper. I think the US have tried to do something similar at least a couple of times.

wtf would they do that. IT'S POSSIBLE TO DO IT HERE, SO WHERES THE LOGIC?

If you can grow food in space, we're closer to a life in space. Being able to sustain ourselves ins space will inevitably mean we can explore more of it.

Are you telling me you wouldn't want a cucumber from space? I hate cucumber, and I would eat a space cucumber just to say I ate a cucumber from freaking space!

Also what hatok said.

Am I the only one that thinks a really cheesy horror movie scenario is going to come from this?

Also this can be a step closer from inprovement.
