Posted December 3, 201113 yr We're arguing about it right now in class. What do you think? Probably really weird question, but people are telling me that the chicken came first. Solantap confused
December 3, 201113 yr Well I am christian and since we believe that god created all animals so of course all christians say the chicken came first!
December 3, 201113 yr The egg came first. I went to the bathroom and had a kidney stone, which I then flushed down the toilet, and the sewage contaminated my kidney stone into a living thing, which resulted in the creation of the so called reproducing chicken you all eat. Please stop eating my kids.
December 3, 201113 yr Logically, it would have to be the egg because dinosaurs hatched from eggs and they existed before chickens. Chickens couldn't have come first because that chicken would have had to hatch from an egg.
December 3, 201113 yr lol WOW dead middle! that just shows how much confusion there is and why that question is asked so much! I know a good reason why the Chicken came first! If the EGG came first, who would sit down on it to keep it warm and take care of it? It would be the first chick/chicken so it really WOULDN'T be able to survive on it's own! Oh yeah that is a good reason MWAHAHAHAH!

Oh yeah that is a good reason MWAHAHAHAH! Depends on who was enjoying it the most Another animal that'd soon evolve into the chicken? Pointless argument. There were fish. They needed to lay their eggs and reproduce, as well as finding food. But they couldn't because it was hard to take care of their eggs underwater. So they evolved into amphibians(Correct me if I'm wrong on the name, I'm not sure what it is in English) So the amphibians eventually evolved and became birds(to sum it all up, of course being unspecific.), and one of those bird evolutions eventually became a chicken. So If you think logically, the first chicken was born from an egg of a pre evolution of the chicken. Therefore, the egg came first.
December 3, 201113 yr Let's think we are talking especially about chicken eggs. The egg came first. Since Darwins rules prove that an animal doesn't evolve in it's lifetime but over generations. Reptiles laid eggs through maaaaaaaaaaaaaaany years and due evolution the animals that hatched were a little different each few generations.... and over time an evolved chicken hatched out of the egg. So the egg came first and the chicken hatched out of it. It is not possible that an animal close to a chicken hatched out of the egg and evolved into one during it's lifetime. A circle has no beginning But the problem is..... it is no circle. It began with a straight line which over time split into many many other straight lines. So it would be a tree chart.

My point exactly. Therefore, the egg came first. Idk why so many people still consider this a dilemma.
December 3, 201113 yr I'm gonna go with the chicken. I think God just made them already grown, not a bunch of eggs.
December 3, 201113 yr I still think it's the chicken mostly because how would an egg warm itself and be protect from anything? Doesn't it take months to hatch? So who would protect/warm it until the memorable moment. And another reason is that I'm a Christian and I'm pretty sure that means he created the chicken first.

The animal who laid the egg warms and protects it. If you don't understand which animal I'm talking about look at my first comment in this thread.
December 3, 201113 yr but then where'd the chicken come from to warm said egg? > > We all are mutants my friend. We mutate from our former generation. Even your and I are not a perfect fusion of the mothers egg and the fathers sperm cell. With every reproduction animals change due to different conditions in the environment and gene-mutations. That's why over millions of years a part of evolving reptiles changed into birds. And the animal who laid, protected and warmed the egg was a a bird which was one evolutionary stage back from that animal we call a chicken. That's like a highly evolved homo erectus (an homo erectus who over many generations became so evolved that it was almost a homo sapiens) became pregnant and due to environmental conditions and gene mutation it gave birth to the very first homo sapiens. Simple biology.
December 3, 201113 yr Well.... if you follow the rules of evolution... id say the egg Yes. The first chicken was most probably hatched from the egg of a similar creature. However, due to a mutation, it was a chicken that hatched. This would mean that the chicken egg, from which the first chicken hatched, would have come first. Of course it could be argued that since the chicken hatched from the egg of another creature, it would be the chicken that came first. But then it would also be argued that since the chicken hatched from that egg, it was a chicken egg, no matter the creature that laid it. So, really, it could go either way. Personally, I think that the egg came first.
We're arguing about it right now in class. What do you think?
