Seriously? I thought this game was supposed to fix everything that was wrong with XIII?

This game is getting worse reviews than XIII did!

There are more 1 star ratings than 5 star ratings. I mean wth?

And this is Japan were talking about... The Japanese are FF maniacs who love them some new Final Fantasy games....

It's the fact that Square Enix blatantly lied to it's true and loyal fans.

Let's take a look at their marketing of Lightning)...

-Having her on the front cover...

-Having her on 40% of the back cover...

-having her on the front cover of the manual...

-having her on a half dozen pages inside the manual...

-having her on the front cover and the protective case of the Official Soundtrack...

-having the announcment trailer only feature Lightning and a new rival...

-making an action figure of her (only main characters get this treatment usually)...

-having her present in EVERY SINGLE TRAILER...

-falsely advertising her, or at the very least leading people on, as the main protagonist for the first six months...

-continuing to call her a "Main Character" after E3...

-promising that she will have "Playable Sections" (note that it was plural)...

-having several posters of her...

-having several CG art of her released...

-talking about "Is Lightning Happy or Not?"...

-promising to give her a happy ending...

(How about the false promises)...

-They said there would be Guest Characters (again, note that they used the plural)... we got Snow for about 40 minutes.

-promising that Lightning will have "Playable Sections" (note that it was plural)...

-They promised that Fang and Vanille's sacrifice would be a major plot point and was the reason Lightning set out on her journey... Fang and Vanille were only brought up a couple times and no, they weren't the reason Lightning set out.

-They promised a bunch of new main characters... We got Noel (Yuel is not a main character, nor is Alyssa... and Caius is the Antagonist).

Copy and pasted from another site. But still, everything above is true.

Plus there's the fact that the ending is a giant cliff hanger, included "To be Continued", and basically angered most of the fans.

But really, it's mostly do to Japanese trolls who want to make the game look bad and discourage others from buying it. Final Fantasy XII was also a victim of such crimes.

To be continued? Really? Never do that in a game. Leave it open for additional material, but don't just drop it off like that. Dang.

All of these types of Final Fantasy games are supposed to show another side of the story and yet really make a person connect and relive the fun of the old game, if they played it. From what I've heard this game doesn't do that. Well, from what I can see, it's not that it's bad but when you compare it to other titles of similar design, it just doesn't live up to the expectations people had of the game and so the rating fell. It's pretty common for a major game franchise to have a couple of misses instead of hits that the fans expect. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

They're planning on releasing DLC to expand on the story and ending. That's right, endings that you must download and most likely pay for.

Don't be surprised is XIII-3 turns out to be a real game... what with them reserving the domain for it and all xD.

Looks like it's really all over the board for this game, though some of the reviews saying "Square Enix is dead!" are kind of hilarious. I had a feeling this would happen. They wanted to save XIII, but what they should have done is except that it flopped and try to come back with XIV. I just hope with Versus they will be able to regain their fans trust in the FF series.

The cliffhanger was kind of a deal breaker for me. Unless they've changed the gameplay enough from XIII, I really can't bring myself to play through a game just to be disappointed. I was interested a bit with how they developed the characters in XIII, but it felt more like I was trudging through the game instead of walking through. Just went through a nice tunnel-like dungeon full of cheap pricks? YAAAAAAAAY do it again. And again. And again. And again.

famitsu gave it a perfect score.

im just saying that maybe people aren't even giving it a chance. i honestly think ffxiii was pretty good, not great, but pretty good. i feel some of the flack was undeserved,.

but yea, who am i but a video game nerd.

Famitsu, the biggest gaming magazine in Japan, gave it a perfect score. Which is really like 4 perfect scores, since all 4 reviewers must give it a 10/10. So according to them, this is an amazing game. I have never played it though and therefore cannot judge it myself

Fans were probably just upset about it. I bet you people rated it and they didn't even play the game. Don't listen to reviews, play the games you want and see if you like them.

Yeah, I found the reviews that were 4 or 3 stars to be the most objective with their review. A lot of them did say that the ending (or lack of) really hurt their impression. It still looks like plenty of people still enjoyed it. But a person just looking at the front page won't know that x.x

Yeah, because it's all in japanese. Not much people here except you can read that type of language.

As for this post. Reading this really makes me not want to buy the game anymore. The story sounds crappy, the ending sounds terrible, and the gameplay only slightly improved from FF XIII. This really sounds like a dissapointing game if you ask me. I just might have to cancel my pre-order of the game because of this thread and the reviews on this game as well. Think I'll consider buying RE: Revelations and Jack&Daxter HD collectionn instead.

Good thing I always planned to watch a walkthrough of the game just like 13.

Which is why I post my impressions :P At least people can get a taste of what they say.

tutti frutti. Ultimately, I would have to get my hands on the game to really judge how it all comes together. For me with FFXIII, the only things that I didn't like about it was A) feeling like being in a tutorial every couple of hours, http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/cool.png Feeling like I was in that long hallway, like in the 2nd matrix movie, over a more open world and C) The gameplay: if the leader died with the others at full health it was game over, not having that in town feeling like most RPGs and being wailed on while switching roles.

FFXIII-2 I was hoping for the stuff being fixed and adjusting from what I've been told and read online. Though much like what KingdomHearts125 had stated, this does sound like a disappointing game. I don't go completely on reviews from critics, like Famitsu, I more so go by those that have played the game outside of those companies. If the game has a "to be continued" at the end of it, then I see SE just trying to milk us for money over trying to produce a solid game that actually ends at some point. Instead of continuing XIII-2 to XIII-3(or whatever the name of the game would be) VersusXIII should be the focul point in getting on the shelves. It's already been 5+ years for Versus why wait longer for the game with another FF game?

Well, apparently Final Fantasy XIII-2 has greatly dissapointed long-time FF fans. Let's face it, FF XIII-2 isn't even half as great as XIII. I mean come on Square-Enix, MULTIPLE endings? No...just no. I'll be willing to accept a game with a good ending and a dark ending (such as InFAMOUS 1&2 and Epic Mickey 1&2). But with multiple endings, it's just a big no. I already learned that lesson with StarFox Command. Which shares a similar fate with FF XIII-2. I mean, I really don't understand what's the whole point of making a game with multiple endings. let alone have an ending (or endings) that leaves off at a cliff hanger. I really hate those types of games. The only thing good I have to say about XIII-2 is that the gameplay is slightly better than XIII.

Now before any of you say it. No, I'm not one of those people who can't accept change in a FF game. Believe me, I could care less about XIII and XIII-2's gameplay. The gameplay in it XIII-2 looks better than XIII. I'm just dissapointed with XIII-2's story. Come on, multiple endings? What's the point of having those endings if they serve no other purpose other than making cliff-hangers and spin-offs (I consider XIII-2 a spin-off due to those endings). This game is just another Sonic 06 and StarFox Command if you know what i mean. So yeah, that's what i think.

What's your opinion on the game.

Really? Because i've heard great things about this game. It's gotten perfect scores from Famitsu and Dengeki. I've read that the linearity problem, that so many have complained about, is no longer a problem, either. I have not played it, so i won't say this game is awesome or that it sucks. But, i say that the game sounds and looks amazing and i believe that i may like it more than the original.

Meh, I'd rather make my own opinion about a Final Fantasy game. The general opinion nowadays of any long lasting franchise is that each game will be the franchises swan song. Final Fantasy XIII wasn't amazing, but it wasn't terrible either.

FF XIII-2 looks really good to me, it appeals to a lot of things I like in RPG's.

I knew you would make this thread. lol

Anyway, who makes multiple endings like that? My goodness.

I feel like you may be overreacting to my post in the other thread. I'd hate to see you not buy the game just because of that one thread. Really, if you were very excited in getting the game before then you should still be looking forward to trying it xD.

The gameplay is extremely fun and the story is very interesting and nice. The only 'problem' is that the story has little to do with what Square Enix originally led fans to believe.

Come on, multiple endings? What's the point of having those endings if they serve no other purpose other than making cliff-hangers and spin-offs

With multiple endings, I highly doubt there will be a XIII-3 that they're working towards. and even then, most games with more than ending have a "True Ending" that trumps the others in terms of canon...-ocity...

Personally, I like the new direction. Finally, replay value!

If the ending that I saw was the "true ending," then I think that there is a very big chance for a XIII-3 :P.

*Gasp* So does this mean you can see the future? http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.png

Sorry to make you feel that way lol. I just wanted opinions on what people thought on this game. but yeah, you're thread really made me not want the game anymore, haha.
