Perchance to Dream

Part I

Apprentice drummed her fingers on the wall, brows knitted with a hand pressed to her temple. The staccato pattern her fingernails created did not help the increasing annoyance that weighed on her mind. She had forgotten something, and obviously she didn't know what. She pictured how much of an idiot she must looked, standing awkwardly in the hallway. Maybe if she retraced her steps and thought for a moment what she had been planning before she suddenly forgot.

Shaking her head, Apprentice stood up straight and walked forward. She played various scenarios through her mind. First, I was thinking eating frosted flakes for breakfast and then I had planned on going on the computer. That's when the various grey, white and blue colours invaded her mind.

"Ohhhhh," she said aloud, slapping the side of her head."That's what I was going to do. I was going to go on KH13. Stupid me."

Treading a restless hand through her auburn hair, Apprentice made her way up the staircase. The rest of her family had gone out shopping today and she was alone at home with the dog and cats.

Approaching her iMac, she seated herself comfortably. At first, Apprentice had stumbled upon the site looking for various Kingdom Hearts cutscenes via Google and YouTube. When she returned to the site, she started stalking it for a for a month or so when Birth by Sleep Final Mix and Re:coded had been released. It was until after KH3D had been announced that she finally decided to sign up on the site using the pseudonym TheApprenticeofKingMickey.

It was really strange, the feelings she felt for invisible people. At first, she was initially suspicious of anyone who talked to her, believing them perverts or rapists. As time went, the members of KH13 grew on her and came to regard the majority of the site as good friends. Course, if her parents knew this they'd be telling her, "Y'know, you're befriending pedophiles, right?"

Apprentice briefly smirked as she opened Safari. Maybe she'd ought to tell them that. gaiz mommy and daddy thinks ur all pedos!

From what Apprentice had learned , KH13 consisted of five groups. The Kings (Aaron and DChiuch), the moderators, the well-known members, the lesser-known members and the bots. Apprentice had a hard time distinguishing whether she belonged in the well known or lesser known groups. The hierarchy of KH13 was a tough egg to crack. Basically if the mods disapproved of you or dislike you, your life on KH13 never truly existed in the first place.

After Apprentice had finished browsing through YouTube and allkpop, she finally clicked on KH13. Browsing through the notifications on KH13 was one of the times during the day that Apprentice looked forward to the most. Which is pretty pathetic now that you think about it.

What caught Apprentice's eye was the strange window flashing at the corner of the screen. She removed her purple and blue spectacles, cleaned them, rubbed her eyelids before depositing them back on the bridge of nose.

The window was small, flashing with all the signature colours and symbols of the Kingdom Hearts series. In the series' signature font there was were two words. 'The Keyhole' it said. Below the words was the recognizable Keyhole of Light, its light shining more brightly than the midday sun itself. She was right. What she saw wasn't a dream. She had clicked on this window before and it had taken her on a magical route.

Apprentice moved the cursor, then hesitated. Stop it, she thought. This is DChiuch, you idiot. You can trust him. Swallowing audibly, Apprentice clicked on the Keyhole. A silvery white light came pouring out of the Keyhole, lathering the walls and furniture of the computer room. It grabbed hold of Apprentice, its touch almost frothy and warm. It coaxed Apprentice to feel no fear. Finally yielding, she let herself plunge into a world of magic and danger.

It's ADHD. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. And I like mentioned. An intense fascination will nullify lack of concentration. That's where Asperger's Syndrome comes in. Anything I really, really like or love I pay more attention to than anything.

I thought I got to be in it. I will say it's pretty good and man I almost died at a few parts. So very accurate >..<

Part VIII

The world exploded in a million light fragments and colour spots. Apprentice jerked back, enough so the light exuberated by the combat-locked Keyblades before her couldn't give her lasting scars. She pressed a hand over a pounding heart, whom gave her ribcage a nasty beating from inside her chest. The  incident was so rapid, she didn't even have a chance to yelp. Okay, so this attempt was definitely a failure, she settled for thinking after her thoughts were finally at a standstill.

Once visibility became possible, Apprentice along with the Kings, approached the field of destroyed trees to see what went wrong this time. Not only were much of the Keybladers' aims off, but baylaust and Lu Xun had accidentally produced darkness instead of light. Improvement? Because we totally have to answer that question with most utterly obvious answer, Apprentice said internally.

"We aren't going to go all Master Eraqus on you," started Aaron. In shimmers of light and darkness, Keyblades disappeared, their wielders facing Apprentice and the Kings.

"But Lu Xun and baylaust, we specifically need the both of you to control your darkness. Light is crucial for this particular move. Please try better next time. So far, the only who has perfected Salvation is Aqua."

Aqua7KH grinned a grin that clearly said, 'Not being awesome is not an option for me.'

"On top of that," DChiuch continued, giving each of them a glance with the density of stone. "You nearly skewered Apprentice. May I remind you she is essential for this?"

Lu Xun's handsome face twisted into a sort of chagrined grimace. Apprentice was sure baylaust would be doing the same thing, if his face wasn't hidden by Vanitas' mask. "I'll try better next time," he acquiesced by inclining his dark head compliantly in front of his King.

"'Do or do not. There is no try,'" Apprentice quoted softly with a thoughtful look colouring her features as she gazed at Lu Xun. The throng looked at her blankly. "A quote from Star Wars," she explained quickly. "In Master Yoda's words, there is no room for trying. Either you do something or you don't. With that mindset, you might be able to succeed executing this task."

Lu Xun rewarded her with such a grateful look that sent Apprentice's heart aflutter. "Thank you for that enlightenment, Apprentice," interjected Aaron. "Let's try that again, shall we?" The group then proceeded to remake the original formation which was standing steadily on a platform of light each of the Keyblade wielders created. The purpose of the move was for each of ten wielders to recreate Salvation, an ability made by Ventus, where you fixedly hold your position to charge energy and with and throw your Keyblade upwards while columns of light grow around you to damage any surrounding enemies. The objective of the move was to combine the ten Salvations into a much bigger one. Apprentice's role? She was to shape the world around them to trap their enemies when their arrival would be imminent.

Which lead to a troubling thought during today's God knows what number practice session. As DChiuch had  put it, she had nearly been skewered. Even with her ability, she still couldn't protect herself. This upset Apprentice more than she let on. And so, when she asked the Kings if she could take a temporary break, she had no idea what bemusement she was leaving behind as she power walked towards the direction where the enormous trees were still standing.

When Shana had seen Apprentice vanish among the shadows of towering trees, her worry and curiosity had been immediately piqued. She sneaked off from the large group of well-known members and lesser-known members, had nearly reached her destination when Golden just to be there, blocking her. Shana wouldn't've felt half as much annoyance if she didn't feel ridiculously happy every time she laid eyes on him.

"Where do you think you're going?"

"To find Apprentice," she bit back and added internally that she would try to prevent Apprentice from wallowing in angst.

"She can take care of herself. You don't need to go running after her all time," he told her, looking at her as if she had the intelligence of a squirrel.

"Apprentice is my friend. I never stop worrying about people who are important to me."

Golden stared at her for a long time with an indiscernible and strange expression. After a while, Shana became impatient with his constant staring, slipped under his arm and flitted through the trees. Golden yelled after her and was quickly on her trail. After a split second of thinking, Shana realized she was mostly doing this to annoy him rather than go looking for Apprentice. If there was one thing that was completely unexpected, it was Golden attempting to grab hold of Shana's hips, tripping over trees roots in the process and causing them both to collide and fall onto the ground. The end result was Golden's face, separated by nothing but the thin material of Naminé's white dress, resting between Shana's buttocks. But what did make the situation completely unsexy was the mouthful of grass Shana inhaled on her way down.

Who knew Roxas could be so heavy? Shana spit out the green blades, letting out a groan that sounded suspiciously like, "Damn it all," as she felt an ache all over her body like as if her pain was poking and mocking her as the same time. This entire time, Golden hadn't moved. "Golden, get up," she commanded with a hiss. "Golden, so help me-"

He scampered like a cat trying to flee from water. "Shana, I'm so sorry-"

She interrupted, no longer caring if she was embarrassed. "It doesn't matter. Just get off of me so I can feel my legs again."

But he was refusing to move again. He looked down at her with that strange expression she saw earlier before she ran into the forest. And it was now that Shana realized why the look was so strange. He was restraining himself. But from what exactly? "Golden," she sighed, exasperated. "Could you please move? I can't feel my legs."

Making use of the space she did have, Shana rotated from being positioned on her stomach to being pinned by Golden's arms. This caused him to tumble and land on Shana. It could have been a heartbeat or century or a million corny, cheesy, different ways to describe how time went by slowly and rapidly at the same time when you were entranced by someone whom you found agitated your heart like nothing ever did. Shana could not recall properly had just transpired. They were chest to chest and mouth on mouth. Both of their thoughts were incoherent but if it were to be summarized it would have gone along the lines of !!!!!!!!! It was only when Golden began to ply over Shana's mouth, that she came to her senses. He was hesitant and soft, as if he were afraid she would push him away and that he would lose himself within her. Shana was motionless, disbelieving that she was being kissed, especially like this. In a tentative gesture, she grasped his shoulders urging him not to stop. This was when Golden let out a loud groan, running flat palms down her back. Shana threaded through his hair, marveling at its softness. Then with a gasp, he broke away from her, his azure eyes filled with horror and shock. Her hair askew, her lips passion-bruised, Shana regarded him with similar expression.

"My god. . . ."

Shana's lips curved upwards. "I know."

Immobile for the most part, Apprentice ran one hand up and down the skin of her upper arm nervously. Her back was against a tree trunk and her lips were mashed together, her eyes were screwed shut in an effort to control her tears. Stupid as it may be, Apprentice was very honest when it came to unveiling emotions. Simple frustration to full blown-out stress could make her eyes prickle and leak. This was another attempt not to cry like a little girl. So far it wasn't working. Her morality were being drowned out by endless waves of suppressed emotion. If it continued, reason would be governed by selfishness. She couldn't let that happen. Apprentice could let go, let herself lose composure for minutes. Or she could retain her rationality like most neurotypicals do and be smart as social etiquette dictated. There's no point, she told herself. Better to let yourself go now than wait for an unplanned explosion later. Sinking to the ground, everything poured out. Apprentice wailed as salty teardrops stained her cheeks. She sobbed, "Why can't I protect myself?! Clearly, ordinary people can do it! Why can't I? WHY AM I SO WEAK!?" Once the vocal cries were at an end, Apprentice could taste salt and she lay curled into a ball at the foot of the large tree as sunshine shone through the leaves and green shadows were cast upon her.

Sniffling, she settled into a sitting position and let out a breathy sigh. Apprentice definitely felt better. Sometimes a meltdown did wonders. She looked up at the sky and laughed.

"I see. I didn't realize you were so conflicted this way," uttered softly a voice from somewhere in the greenery. Apprentice stilled, peering into the trees. Lu Xun emerged, his face adumbrated by darkness. His expression impassive and his hands curled into fists, he stared at her as if he were unable to decide which emotion to feel. "Why didn't you tell anyone?" he said in a much gentler tone.

She laughed with sad incredulity. "Because people don't care."

"There are plenty of people that care," he kneeled, supporting one arm on his knee and lifted her chin with his other hand. "You have to look for the right people who will listen."

If it was anyone else, Apprentice would have completely shied away but instead she was motionless, completely comfortable with the tender way Lu Xun was touching her. "Guess I haven't been looking for the right people," she smiled, wiping her eyes. He smiled back, his cerulean eyes gentle.

Getting off the ground, Lu Xun offered a hand to Apprentice. Accepting it, he pulled her to her feet. "Did you not pay attention to DChiuch's words when you were upset by possessing an offensive ability?"

Apprentice crossed her arms in a frown, trying to recall. "'"Your pseudonym, TheApprenticeofKingMickey is certainly the key to that particular problem.'" Something occurred to Apprentice. She grabbed his arms with force as she asked, "When you summon your Keyblade, what are you thinking about?!"

His face was thoughtful as looked down at her. "Relief that you have ability to protect yourself and those you care about, security and. . . . power."

"You feel powerful?"

"Because you know you possess the power to save lives and to that end, you feel like you can do anything. Quite frankly, it's a wonderful feeling."

Such thoughts can bring forth dangerous consequences. And those consequences come with a price. Everything comes with a price. Apprentice looked at Lu Xun, dead serious. "I want to try summoning a Keyblade."

After a moment of surprise, the corners of Lu Xun's mouth curved upwards. "Who said there was anything stopping you?"

During the course perhaps an hour or so, Lu Xun taught her the basics of Keyblade summoning. He informed her on how it would feel like and which emotions to control and which ones were acceptable to feel. Yet the hour it took to summon the Keyblade seemed to be eternity. And being in this dreamscape, it was an eternity. Who knows how many days, weeks or years have passed since Apprentice's very being was sucked into her computer monitor.

"I believe you are ready," he announced as Ends of the Earth vanished in group of green and blue spirals.

Apprentice blinked. "Really?"

"Yes, really." His answering smile betrayed his amusement. "Now in some situations, Keyblade wielders would be tense when summoning their Keyblade. We've practiced relaxation when trying to summon but now we need you to be expectant. Try to remember Apprentice that when you are ready for attack you also need to have some measure of control or you might be unable to call forth your Keyblade."

Apprentice nodded, completely focused on his teaching. "You'd make a good Keyblade Master," she noted aloud.

Lu Xun smiled that familiar smile. Apprentice was started to look forward to him doing that. Becoming austere, he schooled her posture so she would be standing steadily on her two feet. Her left arm was limp at her side and since Apprentice was right-handed, it was most likely that her Keyblade would appear in her right hand. She had pushed all her black hair back so it tumbled down her back and didn't get in the way any arm movements she might perform.

 Apprentice held out her arm and sensed for the unknown place where she knew her Keyblade was waiting for her. At once, when she reached out, a tether latched and tightened. Her hand felt the irresistible compulsion to grasp the hilt of the not-yet-there weapon. A shimmer of rainbow light burst from inside of Apprentice's palm and spread further to form a shaft flanked by an angel wing shaped handle, a doubled silver blade; its saffron and teal teeth shaped into the kanji of 'Light'. The strangest part of it all was as if Apprentice was greeting an old friend she'd never believed she would see.

"O-Oathkeeper," Apprentice stammered at the shocking form of her Keyblade. It couldn't be possible. She had an Oathkeeper of her own? Coming to her senses, Apprentice focused on Lu Xun who had Ends of the Earth poised for attack. On this note, she charged forward causing Lu Xun to block at the last minute. She pressed down on him until he shoved her backwards and she dug her heels into the ground to prevent herself from losing her footing. He threw himself at her and she parried with Oathkeeper, trying to at least harm a bit of skin to which Lu Xun warded off without a sweat. Swinging his Keyblade at her, Apprentice dodged and ducked.  He aimed for her legs and as she tripped, Apprentice managed to gain the momentum to flip in the air with a superhuman strength she didn't know she had. Lu Xun was so surprised by this, he stilled. Using this moment of immobility to her advantage, Apprentice threw Oathkeeper like a boomerang. A silver whirl, it went straight for Lu Xun's face and he deflected it from his face with Ends of the Earth like a boss. However, when Oathkeeper came gyrating to Apprentice, she noticed a crimson streak on Lu Xun's cheek. Catching Oathkeeper, Apprentice's eyes widened and stung.

"Shall we call it a draw?" Lu Xun wiped the blood off his face.

The world blurred behind tears as Apprentice felt another strange surge of emotion. She tightly clasped Oathkeeper's hilt in her hand. The Keyblade was a strange comfort to her even if it was the source of her tears. It all came back to Kingdom Hearts. This power. This scape of dream and virtuality. Her amiability with the members of the site and even the weird feeling of enjoyment she always got around Lu Xun. If it weren't for the fateful encounter Nomura had with that Disney executive in the elevator that lead to the creation of Kingdom Hearts, none of this would be happening. Sometimes, Apprentice got so wrapped up in the site, she sometimes forgot why she was on it in the first place besides socializing with its members. It was because of the video game she lived for. Because of the intense love she felt for the story and characters. None of this would be happening without it and Apprentice never felt more grateful for the existence of such a creation.

"Apprentice, is your injuring me upsetting you?" Lu Xun asked, holding her shoulders. "I promise you I am not in pain. I can just drink a potion or use Cure and I'll be fine, I promise."

Tears streaming, she shook her head. "It's not that."

Lu Xun was utterly confused. "What is it then?"

"I'm just happy. Just really happy," she whispered with a laugh.

Lu Xun's lips quirked. "You have to stop crying."

"Can't help it. I'm just honest-" Her sentence cut off, Apprentice tensed. She felt weird. Something was wrong, very wrong. She felt as if someone was tapping into the very subconscious of her mind.

"Apprentice?"

"Do you feel that?" she inquired, looking around the woods. The greenery, which had been frothing and swaying a moment ago, was motionless. "The wind stopped. It only stops when I morph the world into something else."

Realizing this too, Lu Xun said, "Something serious is happening."

"Obviously," murmured Apprentice who touched the nearest trunk of a towering tree. She raised her head, her eyes in thought. "Lu Xun, could you throw me up?"

Looking at her fondly, he said, "I believe you have concocted some crazy idea."

She grinned back. "Of course I have. Would you care to join me?"

"Your wish is my command, milady," he bowed gallantly.

Grabbing her by the waist, Lu Xun sent Apprentice into a high-speed catapult, a ball of white and black in the air. She landed smoothly on a branch that had the thickness of an elephant and the length of a house. Apprentice crouched and extended a hand towards Lu Xun, who was but a speck on the viridian ground.

Lu Xun leapt with the velocity of a rocket ship, his chestnut hair and hakama were whipping from the created wind. Apprentice had already started climbing the thick and enormous trunk when he got to his feet. She nearly slipped, omitting a brief shriek like a small child attempting to reach the impossible height that was promised when you climbed a tree.

Thankful, Lu Xun seized her waist to prevent this from happening. "Are you alright?"

"Yes," she gasped and grabbing a firmer hold onto the bark so she could climb at a more effective speed.

Throughout the entire ordeal, Lu Xun was underneath of her, occasionally supporting Apprentice if she slipped or if she could hardly find a good latch of bark to grab. By reaching the top, Lu Xun had to push the both of them in one try to which he did not do so successfully  and it caused the both of them to stumble among the many leaves ready to act as death traps. When Apprentice rose, Lu Xun was still holding her waist and she surprisingly didn't object. "I'm guessing that tree climbing does not come with the territory of being a Keyblade wielder."

"Not unless you're Sora," sighed Lu Xun, his breath fanning across Apprentice's nape. "So do you see anything that could be causing a disturbance?"

Bringing Apprentice's attention to the forefront, they searched for what could be causing to experience this strange feeling of wrongness. Then Apprentice saw. It could have been millions of kilometers away but it was as clear as if it were a few centimeters in front of her. The entire blue sky was blemished with what looked like the Wall used to morph the world. The sky was distorted with what looked to a translucent and gelatinous starburst of rainbow colours. Some areas were more distorted than others. It covered the entire sky and due to the trees blocking the view down below, Apprentice was 100% sure that none of the members knew this was happening. The penetration was almost complete.

So this chapter was pretty melodramatic. Ugggggghhhh. =_=

This is the first time I wrote a kissing scene so like yeah. . . .

 

The meltdown I had was a summarization of my feelings from this week of school. Sorry if it was a bit too dramatic any of your guys' taste but it was my version of therapy.

 

The entire time I wrote the Lupprentice scenes I was extremely embarrassed.

 

And I'm going to stop focusing on the romance. This is Goldana's last appearance everybody. There'll still be some moments between couples but I want to concentrate on the plot and fighting. As for the humor, it's mostly spontaneous. I am not a funny person so I just make up the hilarious parts as I go along. Stay tuned for Part IX 'cause that's when the action really starts.

This is a masterpiece. A very sexy one.
