Here is what I think: when Sora released his heart in KH1 he released his own heart and Ventus heart, creating 2 nobody and 2 heartless. Roxas is confused to be Sora's nobody even by Organization 13, naming him after Sora, but could he be Ventus's nobody. In the secret ending of birth by sleep final mix, we see ventus's body in castle oblivion disappearing. Did he disappear when Sora stabbed himself? We also see Sora's heartless when Kairi tried to protect him, but I think it was destroyed. Then Sora returned hugging Kairi, but here is the problem, I thought the somebody of a person only returned when a person's heartless and nobody was destroyed, but when did Sora's nobody was destroyed in Hollow Bastion? Could the Sora we play as after the vents of Hollow Bastion, CoM, KH2, and KH3d really be Sora's nobody. Roxas is now gone which means that Ventus nobody is gone. Now all that's left is to eliminate Ventus heartless and Sora's nobody so that their somebody's could return. Mr. Red Eyes could not be Sora's nobody, because only heartless that have evolved have either yellow round eyes, or red round eyes, so that only lead to Ventus's heartless. About Vanitas, I think he merged Terranort. When Sora sees Vanitas in the church, Young Xehanort has the same smile and gestures of Vanitas, but with Terra's power, and Xehanort tan skin and yellow eyes. He could also be only Xehaort and Vanitas fused without Terra, but then where could Terra be? Well this is my opinion, so please do not start hating on my specualtions. Ven's heart is pure light, like Kairi's and I don't think they can have heartless.

I have no idea how Sora came back(I think I remember reading that Kairi had something to do with it, since she's a princess of light?), but he wasn't a Nobody or heartless after that. He was himself, a Somebody, the real Sora. The Sora we play as in DDD is a different one.

Yes, but. Remember a Heartless is created when the Darkness in one's hearts takes over and consumes the Heart. That never happened with Vanitas, because he had his darkness under control.

It's impossible for Ventus to have a Heartless, since he has a heart of pure light and there is no darkness in it to become a Heartless. That is why a Heartless wasn't created when Kairi's heart left her body, since she had a heart of pure light as well.

NO NO NO ...... Ven CANT have a nobody..Nobodies are the Physical body of the somebody after the heart is released.. Vens body is in CO and cant be Roxas.Soras body ( nobody) plus Vens heart is Roxas..Roxas is derived from SORAS BODY but VENS HEART thus his appearance..You are very confused..
