Meeting an internet friend for the first time

Posted

Did u read the title? Okay so I don't need to tell u what this is about :P

So I met this girl like five years on fanfiction.net and over we became really good friends. And we took it super slow, we didn't even start talking on the phone until about 2 years ago. And for a while now, we've been talking about meeting each other in RL. But due to distance/money, it been kinda impossible. So, when today, she literally called me out of nowhere she told me she would be here in my state in a week I was taken aback and super excited. So, now I am super nervous about meeting her and I am just not sure how it will turn out if we meet in RL b/c it's different. Sure, we talk on the phone and skype...but seeing someone face to face, it's just a little daunting...so I was just wondering if anyone here had similar experiences meeting an internet friend in RL and if so, how did you deal with it?

Me and my old friend had a deal. When we're older we'll take all our money and go met each,

I met Koko briefly at San Japan. She was taller than I thought she would be...

...so it was like, completely normal for u? U didn't feel nervous at all?

I was going to say to meet in a public place to make sure that it's not really Pedobear, but you've Skyped before so I think you'd have an idea. I'd still say to go to a public place, because in this crazy age, you never know who someone really is. I'm not saying that everyone's a creeper, but just don't go on a midnight stroll on an abandoned beach.

O.O....I hope not.

I added another sentence to try to sound less harsh...

Wow I'm sounding like my mother...

lol no problems with being on the safe side. id say if youve skyped before it should be fine. but public places are a good start to get to know the person better.

I know but I'm still hearing my mother's voice coming out of my mouth and I'm a guy! Gotta go get that soap from the bathroom and rinse my mouth out!

lol it happens. i disagree with my dad on so many levels, but catch myself acting just like him on so many occasions. i remember my brother talking crap about my dad one time and i just laughed and said "you're just mad, because we're exactly like him!" we laughed pretty hard for a while on that one lmao

I'd laugh if I see Daniel or Aaron one day down in Melbourne. Considering how many people populate "the most liveable city in the world" it's almost impossible.

Not really. The only weird part was being sure it was her to begin with.

I met a lot of online friends at San Japan

I'm an awkward turtle so it was weird

It will definitely be awkward the first few minutes, but talking about what you used to talk on the internet really breaks the ice so start from there and you'll be fine.

Never met any of my Internet friends in real life, since I don't live in the U.S.A.
