Are the Disney Worlds Goona be Important in the Future?

Posted

I'm just wondering if Disney Worlds are gonna be all that important in the future. Squeenix seems to be out of ideas for them already and I don't know if they're gonna be important to the story anytime soon. I know Disnsy Castle is important since the main characters are sort of from there, but all the other worlds are pretty much useless in KH2

It will continue to have disney worlds just because the bad guys need worlds to terrorise and worlds for Sora to save. Disney worlds tell micro-stories and are important in creating an emotional arc in KH games, for me anyway (like in KH1 when Sora starts off in worlds like Wonderland where nothing much happens, then later goes to Neverland where he see's Peter Pan and Wendy and how important Kairi is to him). But as new original worlds are introduced the importance of Disney worlds will decrease unless the plot is linked with the worlds (like darkness consuming them, the 7 princesses etc).

I really kind of want like... a Revolution thing to happen. Where all the Disney Characters get together and side with Sora, and they fight against Organization XIII and the Disney Villians in a all full fledged war

I swear that's how it was going to turn out--but then it never happened....

That is really what I've been waiting for. An all out battle on a clean battleground (by that I mean a flat one with no advantages) between all the characters that ever were in Kingdom Hearts. Similar to a KH Dissidia, except with them all in the same universe. I mean, come on! Who dosen't want to see Tigger beating up on Six?

The worlds seem to have worn out their purpose so that doesn't sound half bad. sounds way better than playing through the movie and helping defeat the insignificant villain.

Disney worlds have been, and most likely continue to be

Completely pointless.

disney worlds are just a way to add more characters that we like to see, along with Final Fantasy

Yeah but in KH1 they were actually part of the journey. They were like 1/3 of the reason you traveled . Then in KH2 they were just....there. They didn't make any creative plots. You just rushed through the movie sort of. The second visits were okay but still didn't do anything important to the storyline. Half of the Org.XIII characters you fought were worthless anyway

I thought they did a good job connecting the Disney worlds in BBS to the over all plot.

I agree. It seems BBS did the best in this aspect IMO. It felt meaningful to go to each world to try to find out about Terra and such. But overall I dont see Disney worlds being super important in the future.

I can see them having importance, but it all depends on SE. There are plenty of ways to keep the Disney worlds relevant to the plot. As long as they don't do it like KH2 again, where we basically rushed through the each movie's story and made a thousand "Sora, Donald, Goofy" introductions, then I think the Disney worlds could have importance.

I had a thought earlier today, that Maleficent should become the next main antagonist. It would make sense since she been there from the beginning, instead of having some new villain randomly appear after Xehanort is defeated. And if she did become the next antagonist, I think, that they could easily incorporate the Disney worlds.

The problem is that the Disney worlds have been reduced to drive-through levels, where you complete an obstacle which is quickly forgotten about the moment it is over. They're not being tied into the grander story arc as much as they ought to be. This is where Kingdom Hearts 1 was superior: every level you went to mattered in one way or another in the grand scheme of things. The Princesses were a key role (pun intended) and pretty much tied the whole story together, and with the Disney villain bloc at the core of the plot, every time you defeated one, it meant something bigger, rather than just having random boss battles. Even more throwaway levels like Deep Jungle and Monstro provided moments for character and plot development, not just footnotes on friendship.

Provided we stop getting the introduction of more characters and start actually working with what we have, the Disney worlds could easily become important again.

Part of the reason they were important was because they had to fill the holes leading up to KH1.I do agree the worlds did help contribute to the character development though

I think that SE is learning from their mistakes. Worlds in BBS had more relevance with the overarching plot, and there was really good Disney interaction in Coded (yeah I liked coded; fight me lol). DDD is also looking like it'll have some good Disney plot relevance as well.

Examples:

  • Pinocchio locked up in a cage because "a boy in a black coat told him to play with Sora"
  • Lea Helping King Mickey and Co. from Maleficent
  • TRON is shaping up to have some relevance to the plot, such as being the original ENCOM and stuff
  • Maleficent going after the Data worlds (provingcodedisimportantafterall xD) and talking about the 7 lights or something
  • Musketeer mickey saying he's from another world (Nomura did say DDD might cover the king's "pursuit of knowledge")
And so on. So yeah, I really do think they've learning from their mistakes, and DDD sure looks that way *u*.

I see.... but I don't recall that Pinocchio scene. Which game?

It's from the Jump Festa Trailer for DDD :3
