Is it just me or is kingdom hearts not popular at all? Like I talk to tons of people who have no clue what it even is. I have met one pearson ( besides my brother and sister ) who know about kingdom hearts.

it is popular but the problem is people see disney and just push it aside as being childish without sitting down and playing the game or reading the story. I talk to a lot of people and most of them know of KH and enjoyed playing them

People have a hard time giving it a chance. But KH is also a JRPG, those are already only accessible to a small audience. Then there's KH's infamously labyrinthine plot.

When I try to tell people they ask who made it and I say square Enix and… Disney. And then they're like no way! I'm not playing a game from Disney! And then they walk off

Well, it depends. I'd say it's pretty popular as a series, but if you're comparing it to, say, Call of Duty, then no, it's not very popular at all. Like most others are saying here, a lot of people just don't want to give it a chance, which is really sad, because I've had gamer friends who reluctantly tried it out and then absolutely fell in love with it. If the world wasn't filled with so many narrow-minded people who refuse to try new things, I bet Kingdom Hearts would be 1000% more popular than it is now.

tutti frutti. I agree with others above me, I think that the main reason people don't give it more of a chance due to the disney part of the series. One guy saw me playing KH1 and thought I was playing something like Sesame Street and called me childish, but dude knew vertually nothing about video games. All games should be given the benefit of the doubt until gamers get their hands on them and decide for themselves over deciding on what's on the cover of the case.

kh is kinda like kpop.

you know a lot people who know it, and a lot people who don't and it's hardly shown on tv and media, only if you look really hard.

lets not even discuss the opinions of the gamers from sites like ign and machinima ,i have seen reviewers hating kh so much to the point where it is unfair,unfortuantely for the gaming world after kh2 the series couldnt antagonise games like assasins creed or uncharted or god of war,still for jrpgs fans i think kh is one of the best games of the genre http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png

Huh, I guess I assumed that your opinion was that the plot was simple could be gotten into by anybody, since that's what you typed.

I think people do judge it to be childish bc of the disney.I know i did at first.Then i played my first KH and was addicted from then on

More people definitly need to give it a chance. I suggest useing the method my best friend used to get me to play Kingdom Hearts for the first time.

A lot of people judge it by the cover these days, and when they see a Disney game, they're like, "oh" and walk away from it. But some people use the characters for fun even if they haven't played the games. So, overall, There's a lot of people that know the characters and stuff, but have not yet played the games.

I introduced my friends to the series.....it wasn't until college that I would bump.. into people that new of the series.....or make some comment whenever I wore my KH shirt. owo!

but its not kingdom hearts fault, it seems like all jrpg games are getting less popular (in america anyways, not sure about europe tbh so GET OFF ME, DONT BITCH ME OUT THAT THE WORLD IS NOT JUST AMERICA. I KNOW)

 

all i can say is that a LOT of my friends/acquaintances played kh1, less played kh2, and now no one gives two shits about the series who is NOT a die hard fan like us.
