I read the Topic wrong. I read "Sora's" Punishment, but I don't think that a Dad should embarrass his son like that.

If more parents were like this, we wouldn't have as many idiots in our schools that don't know the difference between China and Japan (true story). It's obvious the father cared for his son, and I thi

my blasted mistak, i meant to put an 's', but my keyboard didn't put down the s, besides, i've already prepared my dad's middle aged pie in the face and kick in the butt

lol it sounds like your dad's in for a shitcake sandwich.

oh trust me, when he hit's 50, 25 years of payback is going to be mine, i can already taste revenge, my dad already walked into a sliding glass door/window, so that idea's out, but i've got 6-7 years yet to figure out what else i'll do

you must really hate your dad.

no, he's a great guy, we're just a family of pranksters, even my mother has pulled a few pranks on us....but my dad's been the prank king of the family for to long, and i'm going to be the one to de-throne him

oh lol thats pretty epic!

yeah, you should've seen what i did to him last april fools day, i used a worried tone and called him to the kitchen, the next thing he knew he had lemon pie all over his face, not only that, but i put newspaper over his door 3 days in a row, but on the third day, i added a blowhorn for effect, he's been trying to get me back ever since.

One thing I can say to the dad is: Humiliating will not solve the problem but will make things more complicated. There should be a guide for parents to follow on how to handle the situation. I think the dad was fed up and didn't know what to do with his son anymore. Sometimes we can't blame the parents because there are kids who are just taking things for granted specially their education. What the father should have done was a productive punishment because what he had done was going to lower the kids self confidence and esteem which is not good.

well if you're planning to do the sign trick still, you may want to attempt improving your spelling and grammar so those who drive by can actually comprehend what they're reading.

Also, why are you doing all this mean stuff to your Dad? I mean, one trick is alright I guess, but you're being downright an @hole to your dad even if it's a prankster family. There's a line between a funny prank and cruelty.

Lol, I remember this story. I'd probably do the same if I ever planned on having kids...or have a stern talking to them...or just not have um in the 1st place. Yeah, that sounds easier. xD

i know so many parents that would rather beat the firetrucks out of their kids if they failed, then kick them out of the house.

In this topic, people have no idea how human beings work.

Everybody, believe it or not, is unique. Our ridiculously standardized education systems doesn't really cut it in an age where we're actually given the opportunity to develop culturally. Instead of using humiliation tactics that he '"'"'deserved'"''" effort should have been made to find the root of the problem, and ways should have been found to make him more interested in what happens at school.

Honestly, I feel a lot of bitterness coming from the posts in this topic. It sounds like a bunch of disgruntled kids who are agitated by the people who hate the other 'loud' kids in class, and have convinced themselves that they don't deserve anything.

Well, believe it or not, the world doesn't end with you. Every person around you is just as complex as you are, and if you could muster any maturity, you would make an effort to accept others, rather than condemn them.

This is NOT how parenting works, at least, not now, in the modern world of 'not beating minors nearly to death' and doing such logical things as punishing students for being left handed.

Whatever you think about the effectiveness of these methods, they aren't exactly pinnacles of our culture. And culture is a measure of our humanity so...

It sounded like effort was made to me. His father stated that this was the last resort and his son was not listening. I could be wrong, considering that I don't know the kid or his father, but it looks as though the kid was just the class clown, who didn't care about his work. That's actually how it is a lot of the time. Not all the time, no, but a lot of the time. I know because it happened to me, as well. There were plenty of times throughout school, where I didn't care about the work, and I'm sure that if I went back to college, I still wouldn't. It has nothing to do with any complexities, it has to do with me being lazy and caring more about socializing with my friends and doing my own thing, than learning something that I didn't care to learn in the first place. This dad realized that the root of his son's problem, was that he wanted attention over an education. Well, if he used that "attention" to show his son that he needs to buckle down and work harder, then he figured it was the best way. I don't know about anyone else here, but I wasn't condemning him. I was saying that I feel like his father caught on to the ACTUAL problem and did something about it, in a non-violent and effective manner.

It does seem like they're going to the extreme. lol But, I guess if his dad hasn't grounded him and is only trying to get him back, then it shouldn't be too big of a deal.

But that's the thing. It's only a problem if you view it as one. If the kid is the 'class clown' then he obvious wants to entertain people, so why not try to refocus this energy at something productive?

Things don't mesh for everybody, the father was just trying to standardize his son. Never mind that acting out almost always tends to stem from feelings of neglect, or who feel they lack recognition or praise. This is just the fathers brute force take on improving his son, when in this day and age it should have been ore about accommodation (And I don't mean letting the song do whatever he wants, I mean restructuring to ensure that the son can do things in a way that works for him, rather than rejecting him until he can fit into a society norm last seen with any relevance about 100 years ago.

Technically that is child abuse. Just sayin.

Whoa.

Public humiliation as punishment, thank god my parents didn't think of something like that.

I hate it when news things are videos. I only ever want to know a little bit, but then I have to wait through the whole thing and ads just to find out what the devil the story's about. (I was ranting about this last night and just had to wrap it up.)

On topic though, I can't even really consider this a punishment. My dad thought that if punishment wasn't physical or deeply personal, it wouldn't work.

I think it's a great idea since some children want to fool around in school and ruin their opportunities to going to college and graduating with a degree.

I wish some students would list to there teachers and make wise choices. Though that is a very helpful way of proving that violence isn't always the answer to everything.

Every. Single. Time. I look at this title when scrolling down the threads, I read 'Son's' as 'Sora's'. I don't even know how, they don't exactly look overly similar at the end. ¬_¬

Anyway, although I doubt you'd ever see something like this in England (don't know why, you just wouldn't expect it to), it looks to be a pretty effective method... Daresay I wouldn't be agreeing to it if it were me in that boy's position though.

I know when I told my parents about it, they thought it was good parenting and when I agreed them, their first response was, "Are you kidding, if we had done the same to you, you'd have been pissed and you know it!" We laughed and I replied, "Of course I would, that's why its called a punishment!" lol

Haha, my family would probably say a similar thing if I mentioned this. xD Probably best not to say anything to them about this topic though, they'll approve of it too much. I don't wanna be the next person to end up like that guy. d:
