I never watched any of the Death Note series, but now I will start.

Its from the original ending for the manga. =/ I read the ending, it was real.

I'm surprised they didn't go with that. It left it open for a sequel that would net them more money.

The beginning of this I didn't care for. Light seemed out of character to me. But if this were the continuation after Light was killed in the original ending then this would be something.

i own all 13 volumes this is not the original manga ending. this is an alternate ending and it is not known whether or not the ending is fake.

I don't like how Light asked to be killed, I liked his death better in the Anime/Movie, but I do like the addition of Attonement. Wish they added that in the anime.
