If you do not own a 3DS, or have not witnessed it yourself, this is for you. If you DO own a 3DS then you know what I'm talking about. Several people have said that the 3DS graphics are just a small step up from the DS graphics becuase the only pictures you've seen are from a magizine or from a video. First of all, youtube does't support sterioscopic 3D, therefore you can not fully enjoy the graphics of it. And magizines, for some odd reason, make the pictures look all pixily and just down right ugly. The graphics in the 3DS are better than the PSP and is almost even with the PSVita, and have you noticed that all Sony does is copy Nintendo? Nintendo worked with Nintendo, and can't come up with anything on it's own. If you have not played one of the following, you will not fully enjoy the graphics:

Resident Evil

Solid Snake

Kid Icarus: Uprising

All of these games have graphics as good as PSVita and Far better than the PSP.

This is the order of best G to worst: PS3>PSVita>3DS>XBOX360>PSP>Wii. The 3DS is very close to PSVita. If you havn't seen a Netflix movie or special video on 3DS, than you haven't witnessed the graphics of the bast handheld gaming system EVER.

Yup, but the company can patent it for a bit. Like the Tablets and Smart Phones. That's why the only ones were iPads and iPhones, until about a couple years ago when the patent ended.

 

I believe the Wii also had their patent for awhile, that's why Kinect and Move came out pretty late compared to the Wii.

Secret ending for KH2. I think ">" means greater than and the left side is better than the right side. As in the PS3 has the best graphics and the Wii has the worst.

How did Sony copy nintendo in this case? All they did was add a touch screen and rear touch pad with their new handheld. Also the Vita is the first handheld to have dual analog sticks. Nintendo made a separate add on, with its own battery, to add a second analog pad for the 3DS. Also, like i said in your other topic, the Vita is getting an HD collection of MGS2 and MGS3 (which also happens to be on the 3DS). They both look slightly better than the original PS2 version. Also, 3D doesn't necessarily add to graphics. I read that in some games its best to have it off because it causes low frame rate (I think i read it about SSFIV3D). 3D only adds depth to the games, that adds atmosphere for some or just makes it seem like its a miniature world in the screen. But it's not really all that great.

The 3DS is most certainly not close to the Vita in graphics terms. While I fully support the 3DS (Heck, I'm playing Tales of the Abyss right now), the Vita is much better in graphics terms. I do think, that it is better than the PSP. So Nintendo is getting somewhere.

The 3DS isn't on par with the PS Vita; the latter is more powerful. 3DS games automatically look better on the system's screen, since it's more compressed there rather than blown up on a computer or TV screen as when you watch it on YouTube or something like that. And the 3DS has better graphics than the Xbox 360? lolno. The shaders and compression may give that impression, but it is most certainly not. It is however, way better than the PSP.

That's everything that really matters. The PS1/N64 thing is kind of a matter of taste though, they both handle things pretty differently.

Currently, the most powerful system a KH game has appeared on has been the 3DS. The Vita, 360 and PS3 are HD.

 

But beyond that, the consoles themselves don't determine the game's graphical quality. It's a matter of stylistic choices and effort on the creator's part. KH3 could have the graphics of Days. Or it could be 8-bit.

 

But you know what? Graphics don't matter, style does. And KH has a great style. So this doesn't matter at all.

 

 

The 3DS definitely isn't near PS3 level, and the Vita also has quite a bit of power (but the Vita is not a portable PS3, at all). But to be honest, it really doesn't matter that much. The 3DS, last week, sold about 90,000 units, more than everything else combined, as compared to the Vita's 12,000 and the PS3's 23,000. This is Japan of course (for some reason, they seem to be the only ones who release their amounts sold every week). 3DS is good enough to play great games.

3ds graphics absolutely suck when they are compared to the vita. Also, it's said that the vita is on par with the ps3. And the wii has the worst graphics out of the current generation systems, which makes sony's graphics better than Nintendo's graphics. However, the good games on the 3ds and wii make up for that. Well the 3DS was released like, a year ago. The PSVita is quite new. Wait for the launch game period to end, and the Vita will have great games too. I have a feeling the next Dissidia will be on the Vita, if one's released.

Hence, the visuals we see are only using about 50% precent of the hardware. In theory a game that forgoes the 3D effect althogether would look twice as good as the system's current best.

 

& before anyone points out that 3DS games already can be played in 2D, I'll point out that they still have to be able to switch to 3D on the fly, so even in 2D they have to be at 3D standards or else there would be a loading screen every time you move the 3D slider even a little bit.

Common misconception, it's not 50% of the power. Rendering graphics is only part of it, and as such, only part of it has to be rendered twice. There are other elements besides poly count. Most notably, frame count.

And actually, there's a 3DS fighting game that doesn't have a 3D option, so it can run at a smooth 60 FPS.
