Do you consider Terra as power hungry?

Posted

tutti frutti. This has bugged me after thinking about that little speech Eraqus gave Terra about power bringing the darkness. I know that Terra's fighting style is power-based, at least in my opinion. But I don't really see him as a person that was power hungry in any way during BBS. If anything, I found that the anger Terra had for those close to him is what brought out the darkness.

officially they say that terra is just power hungry but it obvious has to do with emotional issues

in some sense though, he is a bit power hungry

He was power hungry. But, not in like the way that dictators in reality are/were power hungry. He wanted power to protect those around him. But, when it seemed as though he didn't have that power, this frustrated him. So, he fell into darkness. This is noted when he begs Master Xehanort to tell him what he has failed to learn or accomplish, in order to become a Master.

I don't see Terra as power hungry he just wanted to protect the things that mattered to him, he had a dream and was willing to chase it at all costs. I think at the very most he was a little naive I believe a large part of this stems from the way Eraqus sheltered Aqua,Terra and Ven. Yeah they all had the time necessary to train to become masters but at the same time they lived on a world where nothing bad happened and therefore had know experience in the way people really operated. Therefore he was inclined to believe that most of the people he met had the same values as he was taught. Add in to the fact that Eraqus ousted him because of his hatred for darkness this made him a perfect canidate to be manipulated to darkness. Master Xehanort saw this and capatilized on it from the very begining

He seemed to view his power as his strength so when he failed it was like saying he wasnt powerful enough. So in other words, he was seeking it but not neccessarily for the wrong reasons. His intentions were good but his insecurity and drive to prove himself and please his master helped him fall. His insecurity also made him more open to being manipulated till it was too late. Example : MX played up to this by calling him a Master and thus manipulating him to follow and please MX to convince himself he did indeed had what it took to be one .

Terra isn't power hungry, he's defensive.

And stupid, but that applies to everybody in BBS.

He's searching for inner strength. It just so happens that his inner strength is established as purely brutish.

I don't think he's really power hungry, he just has a desire to be strong and to have the ability to overcome anything. But he didn't seem power hungry in the way they wanted to present him. Riku, however, was definitely power hungry.

In a sense, yes and in another sense, no, he wishes to obtain the powers to protect his loved ones, even if it means he has to become the scum of humanity, just to do so.

Xehanort Report XI

Ventus and Vanitas were not matched in power; I could not train them, or Vanitas's darkness would gnaw away what little Ventus had left.Of course, since I needed a place where the boy's light might flourish, the answer was obvious: Eraqus, and his absolutes.Considering how we had parted ways, I expected friction—but if anything, Eraqus seemed delighted to see me again. He readily agreed to take care of Ventus. Now I need only wait for the boy's heart to get stronger.I had not visited this second home of mine for some time, and discovered Eraqus had already two pupils of his own. Within one of them, Terra, I sensed something. The boy, though well-intentioned, seeks power single-mindedly. And that kind of hunger is a seedbed for darkness.I had found my vessel.

Does this help explain anything on this little topic? It wasn't intentional he just seeked power to protect his friends.
