Official suggestion topic for new features/changes on KH13

Posted

This topic will serve as the main place for you to offer "suggestions" on KH13. Basically, what do you want us to work on, change, or add? These can be things we already plan to do, small changes, or completely new features. Just let us know what you want us to do, and feel free to discuss any suggestions given by others.

I want liking statuses to be a thing too even if it will be a bit weird. Facebook does it, we have Facebook chat systems, lets get Facebook like buttons for our statuses.

But double posting/multi-posting enforced on statuses is going to be too much, a lot of people have to double post and statuses and status comments have a limit on how much you can say in each post. So people are going to double post if they are typing walls of text and it gets cut off.

We'd be better off with the Forum's reputation system if we had like buttons for statuses. Keep the Facebook like button for actual pages I think.

Hm.  Is there a way to apply the system you have for posts on thread to be on the statuses as well?  I mean the way that it prohibits you from double posting/multi-posting.  I think it'd be great if that was applied.  May stop spamming and such.

These are also features I would support, but cannot implement. See:

However, creating a forum extension like this is beyond my level. If you want to take this further, you can either request for it to be included in the next version of IP.Board / IPS Social Suite, or you can request for someone to develop an extension which allows this.

I think that's what she meant.

Okay....

I think by "Facebook like buttons", she meant "'like' buttons, like on Facebook", as in the kind of like button that Facebook made popular, and is used on our forum currently. Not the Facebook like button, literally.

Can I suggest that KH13 have their own page on Instagram other than Facebook and Twitter?Dunno why,but I suddenly think about that...

I think we have enough social media pages with Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Tumblr.

What kind of photos would we upload, and how can Instagram be used to promote KH13? Those are a couple of questions we would need to answer before making one.

Well,we can use Instagram to have a pictures of KH related event such as E3,TGS,etc. and yes,I know that this is completely useless since it takes a lot of time to wait for that event, even though we didn't know if there was a. KH related on that event, but at least there will be have KH related photos. Also,I think we can upload some photos of artwork created by the members here that has made on Creative Media and yes,I also know that Tumblr was the one for that Role, but at least a KH related photos was enough I think. So yeah, hope my suggestion was okay...

We have the event photos in our gallery.

And you have news on this site but you put it on every other social media outlet anyways.

Advertising and our social media posts link to our news posts. And we link to our event photos on our social media pages every time we add more.

We don't need a hundred social media pages.

An oversight I noticed recently.

There doesn't seem to be any way to use the report feature on a status update. You can report members through their profile, you can report threads and posts, but if there's any way to report a status, I can't find it. I recall a few times where a bot has posted a status update, and of course there was no way to report the status. Recently there was a large argument going on in a status, and there was no way to report it...

so if it's possible to integrate a feature with which to report a status update, that'd be nice to have.

If a bot has posted a status just report the bot via it's profile. The Forum Team doesn't delete the status, they delete the bot.

The status creator has full control over it's status and it's comments.

You can always tell a moderator that is currently online if you don't want to report someone via their profile.

It's still inconvenient that I can report a post with one click, but have to go through a hoop or two to report a status.

It's not a big deal at all, but it just seems that if its possible at all to include the feature, that it should be.

I understand your annoyance, but statuses are different to posts in many ways. The new version of IP.Board might have this feature.

Sora96, please don't be so quick to come up with "excuses" as to why we shouldn't implement new features. I get that there's advantages and disadvantages to everything, but we should be looking at what we can gain from new features, rather than reasons not to implement them. I wouldn't point this out but you're doing it to every single post here.

To address the actual issue: IP.Board v3 doesn't support reporting for status updates, unfortunately, but I suspect that v4 might, and v4 comes out in a few months time.

I'm not trying to come up with excuses, simply alternatives, sometimes temporary alternatives or just reasons. I know you're clearly going to have another point of view and you'll know more than me about things which is good. Having different opinions can be good. I also clearly said IP.Board 4.0 might include it too. So this isn't really a problem.

I just thought about this when i look at the Top 20 poster of the day.Can i suggest that there will be a Top 20 poster of the month in this Site? You know,a page to see who's the top poster among the members in each month. So yeah,i know this suggestion have flaws, but it's worth a short... :D

Also, can i suggest that there will be an "Edit" button on Status Updates? Since i think that button was pretty useful for the members.

All for it. Gets annoying have to delete a status for one typo. Hopefully the next update includes it.

The Fan-made Videos section is filled with "videos" that have been deleted, so I think it would be best if those were deleted from the site. If the makers want to bring them back up, they can always re-post the video.

Last I checked, the Forum Team can't moderate that section. I think we should have it so people can delete their own videos. Hopefully V4 will contain something for that.

A "Follow Member" option that allows you to get notifications every time a certain member posts a topic?

A "Follow Member" option that allows you to get notifications every time a certain member posts a topic?

Wouldn't that be like stalking? I personally don't like the sound of this, sorry.

How is it any different than the option we already have to follow friends' status updates?
