Hey everyone! A couple of years ago, I watched a lot of anime, but then I stopped due to several reasons (didn't have the time or interest etc.). But now I want to get into it again, although I don't really know where to start.

I have a few that I think seems interesting: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Hellsing, Guilty Crown, Gundam Wing, FLCL (?) and Cowboy Bebop to name a few.

 

Are any of these worth checking out? Or do you have a better suggestion? I'm not too fond of Shoujo, but then I liked Fruits Basket and Ouran High School Host Club so I'm pretty open to anything.

I've read the mangas of One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail and so on... But I get tired watching actionanimes like these. The fights are neverending and there are often over hundred of episodes. It's fine when reading, but I just think it's boring to watch. I'm not saying I don't want to watch any action at all, because I like that, but i hope you know what I mean.

 

I'd prefer something maybe... I don't know, more mature? Like a bit dark, but with great story and characters, and humor as well.

 

I've seen Fullmetal Alchemist and Death Note and I really enjoyed these shows for example.

Yu Yu Hakusho fits that description well...

Death Note, Code Geass, Chrono Crusade, Soul Eater, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Black Cat, Air, Clannad, Kanon 2006, Elfen Lied, Dn Angel. Vampire Knight, Wolf's Rain, Full Moon o Sagashite, When They Cry, Full Metal Alchemist, Black Butler, Angel Beat Ef A Tale of Memories and Naruto

Steins Gate fits your description, first like 7 episodes are like a comedy with a time travel twist and after that you see some real character development, plot twists and a great story.

 

Angel Beats, Mirai Nikki, Another and Code Geass are also pretty good.

I knew somebody would say Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, etc.

 

Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay night.

 

Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate, Robotics;Notes(when it comes it later this year).
