DDD is great.

Flawed, but great

But only for KH fans

New fans will be firetrucked

Well, from the trailers and watching the videos beforehand, I would have said it was a perfect 10 out of 10, but from further investigation, I think it's lower.

Complaints:

  • The larger maps. Even though in this game the concept of Flowmotion was introduced, the vast array of maps dwarfed the experience so much. Traveling through these maps even with the help of Flowmotion takes quite a long time.

  • The lines in the game are awkward. Certain lines should have been said in different tones, some of them don't even make sense to the situation.

  • Dream Eaters. At first glance they are cute and just "Wow." But beneath the exterior is a long maze that takes a long time to figure out. I mean with all the commands and abilities in the Ability Links, how are you ever going to find the right combination? Which ones to stick with? How to go about increasing their LP for the Ability Links? Where to find the right skills?

  • And personally, it really is a very challenging game. So challenging that people who didn't need guides before, would need it for locating treasure chests, breeding and raising Dream Eaters, and Ability Links.
Personally, the demo kinda spoiled me. The demo had set moves with Sora, making the gameplay fairly easy. When I started the game on Proud, I knew it was going to be harder, but sheesh, it really was a nightmare. I can't even count how many times I died.

But putting that all aside, once you get used to it all, it really is fun to play. I still get the feeling of Kingdom Hearts (that nostalgic feeling that comes with empathy) from the scenes to the music in the background brings you to the core of it all. The awkward lines are easy to forget taking these things into account.

Because of all of this, I really would want to give it a 10/10, but I think it's a 9/10 at most.

I only had 1 issue with this game. It seemed like every time I got to a boss & almost had him beat, it would be time to Drop. Just a little annoying. Otherwise 10/10.

I give it a 9.0. The extra 1.0 is because enemies and attacks can go through the walls(ex: the 1st boss).

3. Dream Eaters.

You actually can gain a lot of LP if you throw food at your Dream Eaters or just you know rub them with the stylus, it's pretty random numbers though, one minute you'd get nothing or like a measly 2 LP and the next you can get up to 24 LP.... or I did any ways.

You can boost it as well if you choose the one of the Dream Eater boosts when you drop. It takes some investing that is for sure but some of the rewards are pretty great if you find your own way around which specific Spirits you should use and what abilities they offer, that and of course leveling up helps this.

I just remembered actually that some spirits (or maybe all idk) can change their title (or whichever you may call it) and this can in turn unlock hidden paths on the Ability Link for more abilities/commands.

Like you said it really is a long maze xD and I guess it's the time and effort that turns people off the dream eaters but it can be quite rewarding if you are willing to spend and hour or two just working on it. Or I thought so any ways.

I dig how much replay value this game will have because of how expansive the dream eater system is. It is a creative way to gain commands through dream eater's LP. I like the size of the map and the amount of minigames in it.I dig the music too, but some of the more hectic or dire moments don't have the same frantic music that KH gives it during boss fights, I am big into video game music, and square usually gives us best. Still good in this one. I would give it a 8.0.

I haven't ran into any major problems yet in the game. I'd easily give it a 9.25/10, like DChiuch. I think he gave it a spectacular rating.

And I still think that its a low rank though

It touched my heart. I give it a 10.
