So we all come to this site with one thing in common (well most of us *looks eerily at XaonSchock * :P ), Kingdom Hearts. We all had "that first game which changed everything". We all remember what it was like when we played it. The moments. The memories. The nostalgia (and this is for those that don't know what nostalgia means (I didn't assume you are dumb just that you might not know what it means as I once didn't)). This is a thread to discuss those moments. Those "Kingdom Hearts" moments when you felt your heart ache, When you felt it rejoice, or just those times when you felt nostalgia. The reason we are devoted to this series is because of these. The Kingdom Hearts series is vast a grand with seven games made so far - we each have have our own games we started off with which makes each and everyone of our stories unique. These are our stories. Why we are even on this site. So without further ado, please share your story and where your nostalgia lies.

For me, it's Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. That game changed everything. The most nostalgia I have in any of the KH games is when Xion died.

Now my story isn't really anything special, just the story of two friends. I remember when Disney channel first had Kingdom Hearts 1 commercials with the special insider scoops on the game. I loved the idea of being able to go to Disney worlds and converse with the inhabitants there. I wanted the game (but not like I wanted to die to get it) just I wanted it. The commercials stopped airing and I eventually forgot about it. Whenever I remembered about the series (Kingdom Hearts and KHcom at the time) I would ask about getting it and I always heard from different people that it was bad (bad as in it had bad content in it) so I never got to try it. Then years down the line when I was 16 I discovered that you could pirate DS games (I didn't know at the time that it was called pirating or that it was even bad). After a while I got the hang of downloading DS roms and playing them easily. I was on a rom website one day when I noticed they had Kingdom Hearts for the DS. I saw it and thought "no one would know if I tried it so if it is bad no one would know I tried it". I downloaded it and tried it. I remember the first time I heard Dearly Beloved for 358/2 Days, I was confused why it was so soft. It didn't make sense to me. Later when I was about half-way through the game I broke out and told my neighbor (who is my best friend; he is 2 years younger than me; and I will refer to him as "Echoes") about the game and how good it was. He got it from me (I showed him before how to pirate http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.png ) and we played together. Every time I visited his house we were both progressing in the game at the same rate although I was half the game ahead of him and we would sit and talk about it. Those were my sitting on the bell tower at the end of the day moments - me going over to Echoes' house and us talking about the game. Eventually I beat it and he hadn't but we still talked about it. When I beat the game I can't explain the feeling. Nostalgia. And that is why I love the series. After that we both got into the other games. We went to BBS after that and went from there. I still remember sitting there at the end of the day talking about the different worlds we went to and what we did. This is how KHDays went: When I first started I only cared about going to Disney worlds. When I was half way through I half cared about going to Disney worlds and half cared about the storyline. When I was at the end I only cared about the storyline and barely even remembered about the Disney stuff.

So, how about you?

Whelp KH2 was my first game (I didn't realize there was a number 2 on the front T~T ) which I played on X-mas Eve on my sophomore year in high school. I was new to the school and didn't really have much in the way of friends. I got bored waiting for presents so I went down in our basement and rummaged around looking for a game and there it was....KH2. I bought it as a birthday for my brother 2 or so years earlier but neither of us touched it. I was like eh, it beats playing Tinkerbell (she's my favorite Disney character). I remember being so confused I thought my head was going to explode...so I really connected with Roxas and his confusion. 3 years later, I'm a total nut for the series and can't even imagine living without it. But because of this series, I met my 2 very dear best friends of all time, continued my piano self-taught lessons (which I started losing interest in), made the best dessert ever, and changed my entire view of life. So I guess KH was a big maturity lesson and development for me.

The music is what really makes me feel memories. The KH2 version of Dearly Beloved forever holds a place in my heart....when I first played I had no clue what was going on but I felt like crying....I still cry when I hear it and it feels like "Something's squeezing me inside" (yay little kid Sora reference X3 ). When I was playing my first time in KH2, my friends were there to answer my questions....so essentially we bonded. Also with BbS, my 2 best friends and I would stay in the teacher's room at lunch and play each other the entire 40 minutes everyday xD

The KH series has inspired me, pulled me through some rough times, given me friends, and supplied me with memories to last a lifetime...and I think it'll continue to do so in the future.

Just playing through the games for the kagillionth time makes me feel a little nostalgic. Sometimes I wish I could regain that feeling when you first play the games and you're like ZOMG this is amazing with so many mysteries! I mean it's still fun to play but it's not the same as the first time you played the games.

Well for me I was around 7 when kh1 released in NA, I played the demo version at a Video/Comic book store. The demo was fun when I played some weird spiky haired kid that has clown shoes on a Island. I only had a few minutes to play until My mother made me leave. I wanted to play it again but I didn't catch the name of the game, or what the main character's name was. then fast forward to when I saw a part of Kingdom hearts Chain of memories commercial, I saw the spiky haired kid again. I waited on the same channel for hours so it could play again so I could figure out what was the name of the game.

All I knew that It had a spiky haired kid and a beautiful soundtrack of a woman singing. for years I couldn't find out what was the game called or what was the character's name was until my cousin showed me a game on the gameboy advance SP, I realized it was that spiky haired kid again with the tune of the soundtrack I Long forgotten, so I made sure I played it. It was Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. my cousin let me have a save file and I made it until wonderland and I was completely hooked.

I made sure I wrote the name down and then I figured out who was Sora, but I didn't know riku and kairi were, but since donald and goofy were there it didn't make much sense to me why they would be with sora. Nevertheless, I saved My money, Bought Kh: Chain of memories. Played it. Found out that there was a Prequel, I bought that and a ps2. when I played it, I felt what it was like to play it again when I was a little kid and it made me happy.

this was around early 2006 when I found out about Kingdom hearts II. I then got it as well and I was amazed on how Much Imagination and how unique the storyline, and characters were. Plus I deeply admired the Emotion and Morals the games had, it was certainly a highlight in my childhood (aside from how crappy it was) and the rest is history I bought every kh game along with the system, and I will do it until the series pretty much (I hope it never does) eventually dies. I always get the feeling of the Positive Nostalgia when theres something to do with kingdom hearts. It really cheered me up during the dark ages of my childhood and It makes me smile now as I am becoming an adult watching the series proceed with the same extraordinary Imagination, Emotion, and Morals that continue to bring people Joy and Entertainment now and for many years to come.

Quick note, nostalgia means a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one's life, to one's home or homeland, or to one's family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time. Hurray for Dictionary.com!

I've only been a fan for a month sadly, so I guess when I saw Kingdom Heart 2 Secret Ending or when Ventus, Aqua and Terra faced off against Vanitas and Master Xehanort. Had goose bumps and this very big deep sinking feeling in my chest. Felt so sad that they looked so fancy and cool at the beginning but they hammered at the end. Wish I could have that feeling again. Now I don't after watching BBS walkthrough and learning what actually happened before and after the scene.

I've been playing the series since 2004 but dont have nostalgia feeling. wherever i want to play I play it. If theres somethings i feel nostalgic about is my chilhood. After school would always run home to watch Dragon Ball, that was the days :D For that 20 minutes I wouldnt care about anything just enjoy the episode thats something I miss. Childhood was the best part of my life, the rest is only fillers.

About what got me to play with, i used to buy games magazine and found some info about the game and fou suqare would mix with disney and was like "what is this?" then I started to get more info to know more about the game and realize the gameplay was ATB (active time battle, not turns) one of th reasons why never liked FF. So with that, knowing we could visit several disney worlds, the graphics were animecartoon style, I wished to play it and did. End up to be more awesome thta I was things. I was hoping to have some fun but not seeing the epicness I saw.

The part that most marked me in this series was the ending of the first game. sora holding kairi hand and say he will ways be with her and later on the island she finds the picture on the secret place he drew and crying she drew ao paopu fruit too, that got me so bad xD And utada hikaru song hikari/simple and clean playing in background made that moment even more special. I remember listen hat song for hours. Thats it :)

I also didn't realize there was a 2 on the front and didn't know I have a sequel til playing it on xmas day xD

I don't have the same kind of nostalgia the way a lot of other people on this site do. I've only been involved with the series for about two years now. I've played all the games but CoM and coded within the span of a year, so to me, the franchise hasn't lost the "magic" like it has with some of the jaded members here. Since I still love it, I'm essentially blind to most of the reasoning behind the criticisms leveled at the games and why it's essentially shit. Seeing the truth isn't a nice feeling, so I guess my nostalgia comes from the time not so long ago when I didn't feel guilty for ever being involved with this game.

I also didn't realize there was a 2 on the front and didn't know I have a sequel til playing it on xmas day xD

Yay I'm not the only one!! :DD Lol I thought the Roman Numeral 2 was part of the heart design. After the 4th Day of playing as Roxas I said "you know what? Whatever, clearly I'm missing something. I'll just have to trust the answers will come later....so for now gather as much info as possible and accept it's there in your mind." Lovely pep talk with myself xD

My friend was the one that told me when we got back from winter break erm that's the 2nd game.....there's about 8 more that are re-makes and in a different language.....T~T

I'm still waiting to get the chance to play COM :3 As long as I have the essential story parts i'm okay without the re-makes/final mixes xD

So, how about you?

WHAT DID I DO!?

proof that even noobs have you figured out :P

Nobody has me figured out. I'm very mysterious.

No.

You don't know me! You don't know where I've been!

I thought it was part of the design too xD When I finished playing it the first day, I went to look it up to see if there were any other sequels or anything and it was like...wait... Kingdom Hearts (1) has a different cover than mine (KH2)...xD

Phew glad I'm not the only one xD I looked it up too! I was like....wait...there's more? Really?! ZOMG I'm so confused now!! I couldn't figure out the order for the longest time...because I saw the FM and Re: games in addition to the regular ones....good gravy my brain blew up.

I don't have CoM, I have the Re:CoM...same difference. But still, it's pretty awesome and a good challenge! I suggest it if you like quick thinking (I swear, my mental math got better after playing this xD ) :DD
