Hey, so you know X-Men: First Class? That one X-Men movie that pretty much saved the X-Men franchise and just also happened to be the best superhero movie of that year IMO? And you know Matthew Vaughn, the guy who directed that movie, as well as Kick-Ass, and was attached to direct the sequel, known as X-Men: Days of Future Past?

Apparantly, the likely person to replace him is Bryan Singer, director of the first two X movies and producer of First Class. If anyone is going to be taking over the project, I'm at least glad it's him.

Meh, I didn't really like X-men first class. Maybe because I'm still waiting for them to do the sequel to the obvious cliffhanger of X-men 3, the last stand...and there were also some plotholes in X-men first class when compared to the other movies. When is this sequal supposed to take place exactly?

 

And I certainly don't mind this guy taking over, I thought the second X-men was amazing. The first was...okay. And I really liked the third. But X-men origins: Wolverine and X-men first class were unimpressive to me.

I think all of the X-Men movies are just meh. I don't love X2 like most people do, but I don't hate X3 and Origins like most people do, either. I liked First Class the first time I watched it, but I like it less and less everytime I watch it.

Not entirely true. Bryan Singer directed the first two, and now this one. He didn't return for 3 because he was busy doing Superman Returns. Brilliant move on his part.

..Well I see what you are saying but I think the confusion is it takes place after Xmen 3 but its reportedly centered about the time he spent in Japan training as a samurai warrior which takes place right after the events of Origins which will be shown in flashbacks.. I dunno but .I think we will prolly hear more details as time goes by since there are many conflicting reports on this.

They weren't exactly plotholes but continuity errors. Unfortunately, the prequel films have a lot of that. A classic example would be that there are two different Emma Frosts.

I personally liked every X-Men movie to come out. I still haven't been able to sit down and watch ALL of First Class, though. It keeps coming on HBO, but I always end up finding it when it's already toward the end or half way through or something like that. But I love James McAvoy, so I'm sure he played an excellent Xavier.

I found the three first X-Men movies to be a bit weak, especially in terms of character and plot development. Not that it was bad, I still enjoy watching them but it's still weak. I couldn't get attached to the characters and the plot didn't draw me in. It was so… unintriguing at times.

 

Whereas I thought Wolverine and First Class were excellent (especially in terms of character development). I actually sympathized with the characters, my reaction matching theirs and instead of assessing and criticizing the story like I would be otherwise, I was a part of it because I was so drawn into it. Baylaust disagrees with me on Wolverine though. Even though he thinks Wolverine is better than the first three, he thought the story and characters were butchered in some places. :U Particularly, Deadpool.

My roommate is a huge Deadpool fan and he feels the same way. He didn't think Ryan Reynolds was an AWFUL Deadpool, he just felt like he didn't capture the kind of wit or attitude that Deadpool had in the comics. That and he hated what they did to Deadpool at the end of the movie.

Really, people have continuity problems with First Class maybe you should just enjoy the story and make your own continity since continity is worst aspect in superheros. First Class was easily the best X-Men movie by focusing on characters and story, alternated history and focusing on lesser known X-men as well not having Wolverine take over the movie. The first three films while i enjoyed them i had problems with how they handle X-men i liked such as Cyclops and having impactful story.

Ryan Reynolds would have been an awesome Deadpool. He was certainly a great Wade Wilson... but then the end of the movie happened.

 

I am glad that Reynolds is returning for a Deadpool movie, though. And very glad that it will have nothing to do with X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
