Posted December 17, 201212 yr When did Riku know that he could wield a keyblade? How did he know his weapon "Way to the Dawn" was a keyblade?
December 17, 201212 yr He knew he could weild the keyblade because he had done it before. The Kingdom Key that Sora uses was orginaly meant for Riku. With Way to Dawn I'd image he went through an awakening or something. Edited December 17, 201212 yr by Xaon
December 17, 201212 yr He knew in KH1 since the Kingdom Key was intended for him. When/how Riku got Way to the Dawn is a bit fuzzy since it was never gone into detail but I guess it would have been obvious it was one. He could probably "sense" it and a magic key sword materializing in his hand is also a good give away.
December 17, 201212 yr and the way to dawn looks like the big spear thing the boat ansem thingy used Which also looks like Soul Eater. SWORDCEPTION!
December 17, 201212 yr Which also looks like Soul Eater. SWORDCEPTION! i just thought of that right after i posted
December 17, 201212 yr Soul Eater, Ansem's swords, and the way to Dawn. Identical because of artistic symbolism or laziness? You decide.
December 17, 201212 yr Author Soul Eater, Ansem's swords, and the way to Dawn. Identical because of artistic symbolism or laziness? You decide. I always thought that Way to the Dawn looked tacky. It just looks like a Soul Eater with a wing poorly attached. They could've given Riku something better...
December 17, 201212 yr I always thought that Way to the Dawn looked tacky. It just looks like a Soul Eater with a wing poorly attached. They could've given Riku something better... I never though it was very impressive either. I was able to brush it off before because it was assumed that Way to the Dawn used Soul Eater as a base but 3D threw that theory out the window. *looks at Oblivion and thinks of what could have been*

How am I being whiny? I'm not complaining about it, I'm saying that 3D debunked that theory. @11:58 Riku summons Soul Eater. http://www.youtube.com/channel/SWLBzWusFPAdY
December 17, 201212 yr how does riku summoning the soul eater debunk the theory? and you are complaining
December 17, 201212 yr how does riku summoning the soul eater debunk the theory? and you are complaining Well he can't exactly summon Soul Eater if it became Way to Dawn. Complaining about Way to Dawn's looks? Yes. About Soul Eater not becoming Way to Dawn? No.
December 17, 201212 yr Well he can't exactly summon Soul Eater if it became Way to Dawn. Complaining about Way to Dawn's looks? Yes. About Soul Eater not becoming Way to Dawn? No. you thought it became the way to dawn? really? no, it just looks like the soul eater, how was that not obvious
December 17, 201212 yr you thought it became the way to dawn? really? no, it just looks like the soul eater, how was that not obvious Well that's just the theory that was floating around for a while since Way to Dawn looks so much like Soul Eater but 3D pretty much shows that they're to different swords.
December 17, 201212 yr he read the wiki Which also looks like Soul Eater. SWORDCEPTION! Nomura told him :OOOOOOO
December 17, 201212 yr The Way to Dawn and the Soul Eater are the SAME WEAPON. The difference is that the Way to Dawn is an evolved version, but he can summon either. For some reason, after KH2, he seems to have trouble summoning the Keyblade (Only doing so to open the Sleeping DI's Keyhole, involuntarily) bu gains control over it. The Soul Eater might also represent Riku's past days(KH1, KHCoM) and the Way to Dawn represents the balance between Light and Dark in his heart.
December 17, 201212 yr Answering the original question, I think you just know when you wield a Keyblade. And Riku did wield the Kingdom Key before, like someone said, so he just knew. Ansem's weapon looks like Soul Eater because he was using Riku as a vessel, so I guess he could use the same abilities as Riku, and made that new weapon that is probably a derivation of the Soul Eater. The Way to Dawn and Soul Eater... I think the first came from latter, but they're not the same in a way. Soul Eater is a weapon made of darkness only, while Way to Dawn showed Riku's balance between Light and Dark (while still using the power of darkness, that's why it looked like Soul Eater). Riku summoned the this weapon to show that darkness was still inside his heart, because he could still summon it
December 17, 201212 yr Soul Eater DID serve as a base for WtD..This was confirmed by Nomura . Soul Eater is a weapon manifested by the owners heart just like a keyblade is.( although it's NOT a keyblade) So it should be no big surprise WtD resembles Soul Eater...Which is also the reason he can still summon Soul Eater while having WtD. I bet Lea can still summon his chackrams too and you can see his chackrams were integrated into his new keyblade @ topic..Riku knew since KH1 bc the KK was meant to be his .
When did Riku know that he could wield a keyblade? How did he know his weapon "Way to the Dawn" was a keyblade?
