Help With PCSX2 Emulator Configurations

Posted

I FINALLY got my PS2 emulator up and running with KHI. AWESOME, right? However, I have a fairly slow laptop and I need to tinker with the configurations a little more. Can anyone advise what settings to use? At the moment, my compatability is slow - but my auidio seems alright (jujst a little slow, but consistent) and the video is poor poor poor! I assume this requires some kind of frameskip speed hack or something.

Cheers guys, anything back would be awesome, as I'm DYING to replay KH on the PC :)

FYI, hats off to Sora 3D. Couldn't have done it without you man!

If I may, which version are you using? 0.9.6 or 0.9.8?

Version 1.0.0 actually. It frustrated me in getting all of the files I needed that everyone seems to use 0.9.6..... lol

JS if you have a slow computer, your gameplay may be terribly painful.  I had to put off playing Re:COM because I just didn't have the processing power to handle it

My friend told me a setting to change that increased the frame rate or something (but my computer still couldn't run it), i'll send him a message and see if he remembers what it was and if it could help.

0.9.6 IS a better version, I'm not sure about the settings for 1.0.0 xD

I never said 1.0.0 was better. It makes NO sense that 0.9.6 would be better logically as one would assume it's an earlier version of the program.... maybe if I switched to the 9.6 version it would perform better.....

It might, or if you prefer, always try google ;)

thank you so much! and yeah, that's likely the case. I mean the laptop itself isn't bad at all, but it's 4 years old now and getting slow...

I have to wait til he gets home since he can't remember off the bat but when he opens it he'll give me step by step instructions that i'll paste here (:

Sora3D's high res video is actually what I thought of when I saw the title of this thread. I guess just ask for whatever he did and then do the exact opposite.

Yes, and I think it looks really good too. I feel there has been a miscommunication, you said your computer was fairly slow. As such, I reccommeded finding out the hd specs and not using them and in fact reversing them so it would run smoothly.

It's all good, people make mistakes.

I've asked DC, and I will reopen this thread; so long as the discussion never strays towards the mention of less than legal means of obtaining games, which is against the rules. I apologize for the inconvenience.

weak computers don't like PS2 and GC emulation, js

If you're gonna play with high-end emulators (or gaming in general), then you really should get a good desktop for the purpose. More comfortable for that sort of thing.

You'll need four GBs of RAM to run it well.

It's more about CPU than anything, isn't it?

I think so yes. I notice that my CPU shoot up about 50% when running the emulator, sometimes more (I have this gauge on my desktop that shows me this)

What is your laptop's processor? It needs to have at least A dual core 2.4 Ghz for it to run smoothly at it's own (PS2) native resolution. Ram doesn't matter in this. 2GB Ram is more than enough.

What model is your laptop?
