It specifies neither a date or time, it merely shows that we can, in fact, annihalate ourselves.

I'm going to make a huge ass clock one day and yell to the world that it's gonna end tomorrow.

I'm gonna start saying that 9:10 11/12/13 is the end of the world just so people make a clock for it.

exactly. There is nothing wrong with the existence of a physical representation of the threat we pose to ourselves as a species. I like the philosophical meaning there - both in the purpose of the clock and the idea that we are so conscious of our existence and so fragile in our hearts and minds because of it that we feel the need to calculate how much time we have left of said existence. It's also a good marker for the rest of the world to judge the relations between the world's superpowers based on the time it indicates.

my dad once said that the mayans said that 21/12/2012 would be the end of the world because they didn't have enough knowledge to make a calendar further than that date.
