Silly things you've done/thought in a video game as a child?

Posted

I'm sure many of us have been playing video games since we were children, and as children are, they can be very naive (Most of the time). So, what are the silly things you've done or thought in a video game?

This could be something that was really difficult that you find is rather easy now, something you did that really has no purpose, or just silly assumptions your younger self had made.

Here are some of mine:

Final Fantasy VII

I swear, in FF VII I still have yet to beat the first boss (The robo-scorpion thing). I didn't realize how easy it was at that time, and I never got to explore what the full game was going to be like. Now, since my grandfather no longer has the first disk, I can't play it again either.

Pokemon

Many Pokemon players know that the amount of badges you have limits the level of which traded Pokemon will obey you at. Of course, my younger self this affected all Pokemon...so I freaked out when my Pikachu was nearing level 30, and I had yet to beat the third gym. Fun times.

Final Fantasy IX

Same as VII, never could beat the first boss. Until recently, when I returned to the game and very easily defeated the first boss.

Pokemon xD Gale of Darkness

Somehow, I actually managed to clear at least 3/4s of the game while using only two Pokemon: a Flygon, and a Ursarang (While also using it's previous evolutions, of course). I have no idea how I managed this.

That's all I can come up with. What about you guys? How silly were you when you were younger?

As a little kid I couldn't beat any snes game I had...... I was lucky to get past the first world in a game xD

it took me like 5 years to beat super mario sunshine because as a kid i just kept rage quitting when i got stuck and just left it for a long time only to beat that part and get stuck again xD

Probably had a million pokemon failures, especially Roxanne, the first gym leader in emerald (i believe) made me really rage because I was probably really underleveled but somehow blind to the fact.

Edit: I remember one.... NEVER EVER FREAKIN COULD BEAT LEAF GREEN.... stupid elite four+champion.... and my sucky venosaur that was my one and only high lvl yet underleveled pokemon... xD

AND MANY MORE......

Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories

I think I was ten when I got it. I swear this game was going to murder me. Went to be Vexen with Sora. Ended up dieing so many times that I put the game in my closet. Found it a year later beat him on the first shot. Got to Riku's final boss. Same problem. Ended up putting the game in the closet again. Month later brought it out and beat him yet again on the first try.

Sonic: The Secret of the Rings

Same thing happened here. Couldn't beat the final boss in a week ended up forgetting about the game for a year. Found it a year later and beat him on the first time.

Pokemon: Platinum/Ranger

Again I couldn't beat the final boss or champion in Platinum's case the first few times. Put the games away for three months. Brought them out beat them within the first three tries each.

Jak 2

That delivery for the first time was a pain in the ass. Ended up forgetting this time. Brought it out again a month later and was able to get it on the tenth shot. Damn I see a pattern here.

Epic Mickey

God the scientist is a bloody frustrating guy to beat at the beginning. Returned the game got the game a month later. Had saved data in the Wii and beat him on the first shot. Damnit.

FFVIII- kept trying to fight some giant robot and kept dieing. Realised a few years later i was meant to run away.

Jak and daxter 1 and 3- I just kept jumping in the water where the shark (tentacle thing in 3) will automatically eat you trying to get to an island in the distance. Over. and over. And countless minutes wasted.

Nascar games- Kept driving into walls on purpose repeatedly. I don't know why. I honestly can't think of why but it happened.

Draken the ancient gates- Kept killing the dragon (which also ends up killing you). The point of this is non-existent.

I find this also clever but also silly.

I hit Roxas against the glass when Larxene said so in 358.

In NASCAR games, I would drive around the track backwards and ram into the other cars. If I still had people to play with, I'd probably still be doing it today. xD It was fun wrecking people and seeing them fly around the track.

Pokemon: I gave my trainer and Pokemon names that were just a bunch of letters and numbers.

Mario Kart: I drove into dead ends repeatedly ._.

Super Smash Bros.: I jumped off the platform.

KINGOM HEARTS

at the ending dosent it look like rikus fingers get crushed on the door?

pokemon

okay, a wild ponyta killed me and...im giving it money????

I remember wanting to literally eat Choco Mountain in Super Mario World. :D  And, for some strange reason, I'd always thought Link was a girl...  Or, actually, I'd always thought Link was "Zelda."

Spyro 2:

I couldn't beat Crush. I was too scared back then xD

Bomberman Fantasy Race:

I just couldn't beat it at the time. Picked it up a year ago, and beat it with ease.

Um, I'm still doing silly stuff with games...
