Why Weren't There Any Reaction Commands?

Posted

Why weren't there any "press {insert button here}" reaction commands in KH3D?

I feel like the reality shifts were kind of the substitute for reaction commands in 3D. Sure there weren't too many of them and you could only use them in certain spots but they act similarly by letting you do a special attack at times it is available. They probably excluded reaction commands because they didn't feel like making them or something and instead gave us reality shifts.

Because they didn't want it

You mean like the ones in KH2, or every common reaction command, like in Days and BbS?

If you mean the ones from KH2, it was like a feature they include in one game, that makes it different, like Flowmotion, though they could bring it back. Even though I don't want it, makes the game too easy

If you meant the other type, I'm pretty sure Riku had at least one: the "Dark Break" command if I'm not mistaken has it.

Yeah that was kind of annoying. In BbS when you used attacks like Blitz you were given a choice to do two follow-up attacks. In KH3D you were forced to do all three of them. Same goes for the Ars Arcanum and Sonic Blade. If that were those types of reaction commands you meant...

Because if they added one more thing to DDD, the game would be so glitched, you wouldn't be able to play it.

I mean press button to do follow up attacks etc. And Dark Break has no reaction commands. All three jumps are done automatically.

Trying different things for different games?  See which proves the most popular as a basis for what gameplay mechanic to include in KH3. I'd assume.  Flowmotion probably was on their minds more than reactions.

I got confused with the Re:CoM one. Sorry xP

Yeah I missed this sort of Reactio Command. When you got it right, hte attacks would last much longer. Without them, they were sorta... short. Not many hits sometimes...

Yeah, I kinda felt the same way about the attacks in KH3D. Being able to keep the attacks going or cut it short like that at least gave you some form of control. Now it kinda felt automatic. But hey, I still enjoyed the game xD

becouse it uses the command deck.

nvm bbs also used the command deck.

Kingdom Hearts RULES!!

Yeah, command deck or not, skills such as Blitz still had triangle reaction commands.

I love killing enemies with Reaction Commands :D

And now I am sad because there weren't RC's in DDD ):

Agreed. I was at least hoping for reaction commands in commands that wouldn't be the same without them like Blitz and Dark Break.

This, maybe they thought it would make you OP.

This could be true too.

Or this, it'd be pretty awesome to be able to choose your playstyle from the previous games.

Nomura simply wanted something different. KH3D is the holder of extra FFVS13 battle system elements so reaction commands weren't going to be part of KH3D.

Reaction commands were used in KH2 as the "press this button and become badass at appropiate times" concept. DDD didn't need that, because neither do the characters... flowmotion, the command system, and reality shifts all accomplish the same amazing acrobatics and strength as reaction commands, only now the player can do it at will. RC's would be redundant.

I was referring to reaction commands in Blitz, Dark Break, etc., that give you a little bit more control over what you;re doing.
