How long do you think it'll be before we have self-updating game consoles?

Posted

Like if you have a ps5 and pay $100 to download an update for ps6....so how long do you think?

When Kingdom Hearts III comes out.

Then you'll have to wait another year for the localization.

So yeah, never.

A couple centuries

I say 10 maybe 15 years....there is technology that's coming out in the next 5 years that used to be pure sci fi....nano bots, human computers, 3D printers, ect....I think it's closer than we think

Years. It is always years.

When hardware becomes obsolete.

Actually the PS3 can automatically update itself. But as for your idea consoles won't last long enough to do something like that. Consoles won't be around forever.

When the nanobots become available for public...

That's true they'll eventually find a better gaming platform

Do you mean updates so that we'll no longer have to purchase new consoles?  Probably never.  It would definitely be nice if video game consoles were like computers, where you buy the software to install the latest version (i.e. buying windows 7 for a windows vista computer).

I was actually thinking about this, but for sports games. Never.

never,if it ever comes close to that, game consoles themselves will become absolete. and everything will become a computer(they technically already are but you know).

It seems far off, but who knows. The way man has been advancing, we could see a concept like this in 10 years.
