So, anyone feel like looking up how to do something in a video game on the internet ruins the feel of a game? I do. There has been so many games that I enjoyed that other people seem to hate. They say "it's so easy" and things like that. Then I find out they figured out how to beat everything by looking it up. No. That isn't how you should play a game. Figure that shit out on your own.

I feel like once you figure out a trick to a boss, find secrets and all of that good stuff on your own, it gives you this feeling of triumph that you don't get by looking it up. I don't know. Maybe it is just me.

(This has become more scattered than I thought it would be.)

But yeah I remember this screen was the scariest screen when I was younger.

Why? Because I had no idea what to do. Which boss should I try first? Once I get the power who is going to be weak to it? Can I even get to the boss? It was fun to figure out which order to fight the bosses in. AND THAN! AAANNNNDDD THAN! Whenever I found my first armor upgrade I about crapped my pants! So than I would continuously search every level for more armor. Once I got all of the upgrades, man did I feel awesome and when I beat all of the bosses I felt even better. I felt so good about figuring all of that out on my own.

But than...This jackass shows up.

He made me feel weak and that all of my struggles and all of the power I had gained was pointless. But then once I figured out the trick to beating him...That was pretty much the best day of my life. I ran around my house yelling and screamed. My Grandma was laughing at me and ask me what was going on. I ran up to her and hugged her. "I beat him Grandma....I beat him...The world is safe."

So yeah...My point with that story is that I don't think you get that same feeling once you look up how to do all of it. I did it once on a game...I didn't feel very good about the game when I beat it and it just was a "meh" sort of experiance.

But yeah...I think I'm done. I'm just saying...Beat a game on your own. You'll feel better about it. I'm looking at you people who make "How do I beat the mysterious figure?" threads.

I only look stuff up when I'm seriously frustrated, which is helpful, but I see what you mean.  Half of the fun is getting lost and figuring stuff out yourself.  That's the really beautiful part about a game.

sometimes i would look up how to beat a certain boss if i'm stuck on it for over a month but yeah, playing the game on your own is a lot better

I usually just avoid anything on the internet to do with the game I'm currently playing. I prefer playing it myself and only looking up if I missed anything after I've searched through everything in the game.

I don't watch Let's Plays/walkthroughs, or read strategy guides and so on. I want to discover the game in my own way and beat in my own way, and in doing so there is a feeling of accomplishment and gratitude you get that is awesome. Agreed 100% lol I have a friend who constantly watches walkthroughs and I'm just like "Wtf man, play the game for yourself, don't watch someone else play it."

Most of the LPs I watch are group LPs of multiplayer games.  I don't know if that really counts.

I seek help only after I've tried everything I can think of.  I ignore the gaming help threads but I imagine a good many of them exist because they're stuck and can't figure out what to do.  There's a difference between being too lazy to figure it out yourself, and just being clueless.  Not everyone has the time or patience for trial and error, like figuring out what Maverick boss to fight first, and some people are just too frustrated to continue spinning their wheels.  Strategy guides and online walkthroughs are there to help you when you're stuck, but it gives you a complete guide for the game because people can be stuck on different things.  It's their own fault if they follow the strategy guide relentlessly.  Don't blame the internet for providing the answers, blame the people for seeking them out when they shouldn't need to.

I'm with them I only look things up if I'm absolutely frustrated/stumped :)

I actually rarely look anything up when playing a game, unless it's something I have absolutely no clue of what I'm doing.

Nah they don't count, cuz that's just people having fun playing multiplayer lol

I can't focus on a LP long enough to watch the entire thing if it's just one guy talking about the game for a single player game.  Groups are much funnier to listen to, and then you don't get any story spoilers or easy tricks to beat things.

I ususally look up games on their respective wikis, just because I like looking up information. And if that happens to have a perfect strategy to beat a boss I'm stuck on, so be it.

I will only look at videos when I'm stuck to the point where it feels impossible to continue.

The internet is ruining everything the people in my day worked so hard to achieve.
