So it begins.

 

I have gathered them here. They know nothing yet. That will change soon. I wonder how they will take to each other. Time will tell. Regardless, no more time can be wasted. The Experiment must now begin. Time to wake them up...

 

"Good morning. Welcome to the next part of your life."

 

The voice rang out in all of their ears. Earpieces, firmly attached in the ears of all of them. Inside came the unnerving and unnaturally changed voice on the other end. One by one, after hearing the voice, each of the subjects began to wake. Lying on the shore of a short beach was Yumi Yuki Ai, Ember Mors, Luce Angelo, Hazimie Azhar, and Rasiel Kasaragi. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

 

Miles away lay an abandoned collection of bunkers and buildings. They surrounded an airstrip. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay several more people. Ren Cabret, Neisan, Kilek North, Tsuna Sasaki, and Sikota Urinakano. Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

 

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four other subjects; Robert Evans, Karu Kasaragi, Fulmen Aizen, Xander Steel, and Locke Stern. Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an imaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

 

On this island the Experiment is to be conducted. The island itself is only a few miles across, but its jungles, beaches, and bunkers hold long-kept secrets. These people now find themselves as part of a deadly game. They will have to get to know each other, and work together to discover what is sought from them, and in the process they must learn what they seek themselves.

 

The voice buzzed through their earpeices once more.

 

"Time to wake up. The Experiment has begun. You won't want to be asleep for this... Wake up and meet your new friends... and enemies. Wake up...

 

...the game has begun."

Rasiel almost hid behind Xander at Xi's comment toward her.

"My question....why did you kill Karu? To weaken me? Or what Xi?" she asked, her eyes going dim as she prepared to turn into her demon form at any given moment.

"I did not kill Karu. He did it himself. Before you inevitably interrupt me and suggest that I created a situation expressly designed for his death, no, I did not. This is an island of choice. The entire purpose of the experiment is how you deal with it. Karu dealt with the situation the way he saw fit. I gave him options, he chose. He had the choice to kill anyone he wished in that moment, and he chose himself. His death says little of my intentions, Rasiel, and more of his character."

 

Watching from a remote surveillance booth as this conversation developed was Lira, hearing the conversation, and seeing the events transpire in real time.

 

"Now then. Your question period is over." A panel rose up in front of them, with a screen accompanying it. Yumi and Simon were on the screen. They were standing in a room with something resembling a booth in the center, on electrified elevator rails.

 

"Your good friend Yumi, and a new participant, Simon, are waiting in this room for some action. How the next few moments are determined are up to you. So how do you want their fate to go? The Left Button will release toxic gas into the room for 15 seconds, more than enough time to fill the room with it. The Middle Button will have two of the side walls begin to close in, until they encounter each other or anything with such serious resistance, more than enough force to kill the both of them. The Right Button will heat the room up to a few hundred degrees over the course of a few minutes, with 5 sustainable minutes of heat in which they can live. Pick one. Now you may understand something akin to what Karu considered, though, to be fair, he got a more open set of choices than you are."

"You forgot one more option, Xi" He said "What if we do nothing??" He asked this simply out of curiousity to hear his answer, he knew he wouldn't like it though

 

{Stay calm, Rasiel. If we make a move.. He could kill Yumi} He said through tele

That same feeling of panic and choking on nothing but your own fear overwhelmed Rasiel again. She was quiet, staying behind Xander. 

"If I would choose one of them, I would choose the right one...they can live through it. A human body can withstand about 130 degrees...and Yumi has power over water, and that is put to her advantage. The Left and Middle buttons are a no-no. They would be killed easily. Especially the Middle button. CHOOSE THE RIGHT BUTTON." she said through telepathy.

"Don't get killed yourself though Xander..." Rasiel said, getting a little closer to him.

So, Karu really did kill himself? Why did he want to kill himself? Karu killed himself because he did not want to kill anyone else. He would have killed Humm, but Rasiel would have died by then. Karu killed himself out of his love for Rasiel.

Lira watched as Rasiel and Xander were forced to make the decision for the other two. Lira was nowhere observable to the two, luckily, but Lira was able to see them-- delving into their deepest memories-- ones they might have even forgotten themselves...just...deeper. Lira cackled away in her room of isolation. "This'll be REALLY FUN!" She exclaimed. A blue streak shot throughout her body once-- appearing now as a small and young child. Innocent blue eyes, shaggy blode hair, and formal white and blue clothing. Joshua. "Aw, I feel so adorable~" Lira said to herself. The blue streak shot throughout her again, now as an older male. He had pure white shoes and wore greyish black slacks, with rather long and messy black hair. He also wore a pure black long-sleeve collared shirt, the sleeves covering up most of his hand, and all of his wrist. His skin was pale but flawless, and he had very bold and mature dark blue eyes. "I kinda prefer Sikota's body, but Karu's isn't so bad either!"

{Good observation, Rasie!! You're right. That's the one we should pick.. I'm gonna see if I can communicate with Robert and Humm and tell them too.. after that, I'll press the botton}

 

{And.. I already told you, I won't die, and neither will you} He said reassuringly to her through tele

 

During the silence he tried establishing mental connections to Humm and Robert

 

After awhile he managed to make to separate links to them, which were both separate to his one with Rasiel

 

{"Guys, this is Xander.. I'm communicating with you through my mind.. Please don't make a scene I'm gonna pick the button on the right.. it's the one they can most likely survive.. if you have any objections, try to send me a reply through this telepathic link.. if not.. I'm going for it"} He sent that to Humm and Robert separately

(Ok, good. I hope he's able to show everyone that Liru {Lira/Karu} is a sham. Is that what you're planning?? Heh heh, you probably won't tell)

"Is everything alright, Tsuna?" Sikota jumped to the ground from the tree above her. "Sheesh, you guys are fast. I guess we'd better team up again. These tests have been getting harder and harder. We'll have to stick together it seems; and... I... I'm sorry for leaving you guys."

Tsuna was a bit startled when Sikota just came out of nowhere. Her hand was engulfed in flames. She still didn't seem to trust this guy but she had no choice since she doesn't know if Ren and Neisan made it out alive. Tsuna sighed and the fire disappeared completely. "Everything is fine..." she muttered. "Were are we suppose to head now?" 

"Is everything alright, Tsuna?" Sikota jumped to the ground from the tree above her. "Sheesh, you guys are fast. I guess we'd better team up again. These tests have been getting harder and harder. We'll have to stick together it seems; and... I... I'm sorry for leaving you guys."

Rasiel gave a slight smile at Xander's praising, then turning to Xi.

"After a little conservating Xi, we have made our decision. And if you dare do anything other than what trap is hidden behind those buttons, or do anything to us, I WILL FREAKING KILL YOU." Rasiel snapped, then turning to Xander.

Xi laughed. Laughed at Rasiel's anger. He laughed because she was acting so reckless, and he laughed because he knew why and didn't blame her for it.

 

"Your threats are taken into consideration, Rasiel. I assure these choices are exactly what I explained to you they would be. Make your choice, and find out."

"Wake up Isaac." Xi's voice was soft but clear in his ears. Isaac was laying in grass nearby what must have once, by appearance, been a lake.

 

"You have been unfortunatly robbed of your chance for your first kill by me. I deeply apologize, I know how much you enjoy such things. You are now on the surface of the island. Specifically, you will notice you are on newly-dug soil. Isaac, I had my reasons for you incapacitation, but I wish to make it up to you. You are now laying over a recently-made grave. I know how much you love dissections, and this boy Joshua may just fit your bill. Have at my friend, and get creative will you?"

The smoke began to clear as the destroyed shack crumbled on itself.

 

Xi chimed in at the perfectly wrong moment.

 

"Well well well, things don't seem to be going well for you. Kilek unconscious, Ren maybe unconscious, maybe dead, and your last point of rest obliterated. You may want to check on Ren, it seems he's in a bad way right now. But hey, at least you have Sikota back."

 

Xi couldn't help but smile, not like they could see him.

 

"I mean, it is Sikota this time... isn't it? Hurry along now."

(After getting killed by Sylar, Joshua gets dissected by Isaac. That little boy had a cruel fate.)

 

Ember nodded. "That's what Xi told me" she said, before realizing that might make a bad impression. "I mean, I'm not working with him or anything. That's just what he said on my way here." She continued, trying to clear what she had said. She desummoned her staff and began to relax, just a little. "Anyway, I'm assuming you have a power of some sort? Everybody on this godforsaken island seems to have one. Mine is matter state manipulation. Gases to liquids, liquids to solids, solids to gases and everything inbetween. " she spoke, telling him his power. In her hands, she created a ball from air, turned it to fluid, then transformed it back into air. "And I'm guessing you have..." she began, then looked at the man for signs of his power. She smelled a slight bit of ozone, so maybe... "Electricity?" She asked. In her line of work, not being able to guess someone's power could be a fatal mistake. It was a skill she had honed.

Isaac stared up to the sky as he woke up. A demented expression gleamed upon his face as he was prepared to dissect Ember into millions of pieces. But...she was gone. "Whoever you are!!! This boy better be worth dissecting! Ember was almost PERFECT to dissect!!!" Isaac yelled. He stood up, feeling the mound of dirt and rock beneath him, sticking out from the rest. "This is certainly a burial." He mumbled. Eagerly, he turned his arms and hands to blackened carbon fiber, digging through and tearing up the ground like a new Christmas present. He finally stumbled upon Joshua, taking him out of the ground with ease. Isaac's eyes lit up at the young child, he was huried very recently. "Ahhh~" he stuttered. His dissection and skinning knives and tools were all laid out across the floor. "His skin...it's almost flawless, so soft and still warm." He slithered his hand across Joshua's face, feeling the soft cushion of skin. His grin turned into an insane and psychotic smile, his eyes growing as his pupils shrunk. Joshua's cheek was a bit moist as well, with a nearly fresh tear rested upon his chin. Yet still, he laid out a smile. "He's almost too perfect to dissect! I can't let it go to waste! NO, I HAVE TO CONDUCT MY OWN EXPERIMENT NOW!!!" Isaac's spinal blade ripped out of Isaac's skin. Shreds of his skin like paper littered about the ground and blood spewed violently like a broken fountain of red. His bones were barely, yet still visible as layers of skin were slashed off of Isaac himself. Isaac slashed himself across the stitches of his arm, and another across the one on his eye. Suicide? No. Isaac could quite easily survive. He was just one of the subjects of his experiment. His blood spewed over Joshua's once innocent skin. His eyes remained closed but his body twitched.

"The sick dastard!" The shadowy figure halted his struggle and focused his energy elsewhere. A burst of flame over Joshua's body sent Isaac flying backward. He was the surrounded by a column of crimson flame. "What do you think you're doing." The shadowy figure's voice was carried through the flames.
